Reveille: Cadets driving a Model T struck a black-and-white mutt near campus in 1931, and the dog was brought to the cadets' dorm and nursed back to health. When the bugler played ‘Reveille’ the next morning, the dog began barking, so the name stuck. The dog was soon adopted as the Aggies' mascot.
Bully: Mississippi State's teams had already started being referred to as the Bulldogs before the mascot was made official in 1935. That year, head coach Major Ralph Sasse rented a bulldog named Ptolemy from a family in Memphis. A littermate was chosen as the mascot, and named Bully.
Who would you rather take into battle?
I think we all know the answer to that.

There’s not a collie in this world that could beat an English Bulldog in a fight. It’s not even close. I’ve owned both and I’ve seen a pissed off English Bulldog grab an electric fence with its mouth and pull until it broke. You don’t hurt those dogs, you just piss them off.

Reveille is actually the one great tradition I like regarding A&M. Maybe it’s because I had a collie as as kid or just generally love dogs. The history of Reveille is cool as well. My understanding is that the Reveille I was not a collie but a mixed? Like the burial ground site as well. Don’t they face the scoreboard or something. Anyway, I’m ok with Reveille!
