Just curious and haven't heard anything aside from only one or two USCe fans here.
Is he in danger of getting fired if he doesn't make a bowl?
Currently 3-3 overall, with 3 winnable games left (Tennessee, Ole Miss, Chattanooga) and two tougher ones (Florida, Clemson).
He's done some good there clearly since arriving (9 wins last year)

FWIW, I think South Carolina gives Clemson a run for their money this year. Clemson so overrated. SCAR is middling SEC team, but would be 5-1 or 4-2 in ACC this year.

I think they go after Clemson too. Rivalry game and there team may be meddling but theyre not a slouch.
I simply have it in the higher tier category due to rankings and I think its at Clemson this year

No coach should ever be on the hot seat at South Carolina.

Muschamp just can't stop shitting the bed with hiring poor offensive play callers. He's been a head coach for 7 years and has tried to implement three different offensive philosophies.

The game will be over halfway through the 1st quarter.

USCjr will look like a rag in a dogs mouth when we meet this year. It's at Clemson and to add a little extra hot sauce to the game, this will be the 5th straight win over USCjr which would even-out the previous 5 straight loses we had in the Spurrier era. South Carolina is an SEC SEC team in name only because they sure as hell don't play like one....

We went 9 - 4 last year, so no he is not on the hot seat this year. One year should not put one on the hot seat. We've lost to the same teams we lost to last year so far, all ranked.

lol ... no.

We're just slow starters.

He's kind of reminding me of the way Tanner started in baseball. Kept coming up short, putting too much pressure on players and staff, but he kept recruiting.

Then one day he got it. Keep pushing, keep changing the culture, keep striving for perfection and then bam ... one day he decided to approach it with the players so-as-to not apply so much pressure on game days. The team loosened-up and started having fun and everything broke lose. Winningest baseball team this millennium until Holbrook came along with his sissy assed approach.

Boom is going to figure it out. He'll get everything in place, I have faith in him doing that. This game yesterday humbled him some more. He'll start taking just a slightly different approach any time now and it'll all come together for him and this program.

Things are not nearly as dire as some are claiming. It's going to take some tweaking ... nothing drastic, just some tweaking and keep recruiting, keep coaching.

He's not on the hot seat.

And I agree, we'll give Clemson all they want, but we've still got Tennessee, @ Ole Miss, @ Florida, @ Clemson in that order. It's not going to be easy and if, IF, we fall apart then yeah, he might be on the hot seat.

I seriously doubt we're going to fall apart. We were in bad need of this off week though.

No, not this year at least. I'll be really surprised if he doesn't get two more years after this... to do whatever he is going to do.

Next year is going to be bad. Alabama on the schedule. And most of the rest of our opponents can reasonably expect to be better next year: A&M, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Clemson, Kentucky, maybe Vanderbilt. Only Missouri might be worse than this year. No idea about UNC or the two smaller schools we'll be playing.

Meanwhile I don't think we will improve next year. Bentley will still be himself, Muschamp will leave him in the whole way until he graduates.

Muschamp is supposed to be some kind of defensive guru, but I dunno at this point.

Whatever. Apathy has set in. I literally cannot watch Jake Bentley make those dumbass throws or spin his over/under throw chart.

I have no ideas. Let no man say we didn't give Muschamp every chance. We'll conduct another dumbass search in two years.

People don’t realize just how bare Spurrier left us. On top of that, getting enough talent to come here while going against UGA clemson and others, it’s been a tough rebuild.

Hell it took Spurrier about 5 years to get things going himself.

In order for coach to be on the hot seat, you have to have three major things: a failure to meet expectations, a more attractive alternative, and an administration unwilling to settle.

USC has no expectations, as a large portion of the fanbase will cover for Muschamp's coaching deficiencies by offering any number of excuses, such as lack of tradition, lack of resources, etc. Many fans literally are just happy to be here.

USC has no more attractive candidate, as the 2015 coaching search debacle humbled everyone about how comparatively unattractive this job is. Muschamp, as a washout, was quite possibly the only guy willing to take the job.

USC's administration has shown more patience with its programs than other schools of similar size. So long as we can cash that SEC check, there's very little incentive to increase competitiveness.

TL;DR- Muschamp is safe as a Hindu cow. Apathy is a killer.

Eh. More so on the coaches available IMO

You think LSU wanted to hire Ed O? It’s working out for them, but if even LSU has to settle what chance do we have?

Same with Mizzou, MSU, hell even FSU hired Taggart of all people.

Lou Holtz is 1 of only 2 USC coaches to record more wins in year 3 than year 2 since WWII. the other, Warren Giese (1956-60). Lou won 9 games after winning 8 in year two.

Spurrier started 6-1 and had USC ranked #6 in the country in year three before falling flat against unranked Vanderbilt at home - the first of 5 straight losses to end the 2007 season.

Muschamp, for better or worse, has carte blanche right now with the new football operations building coming online early 2019. it's basically his baby and Ray ain't gonna put any heat on him for a few seasons unless recruiting results fail to equal the time/money invested in that project. WM has claimed it to be a 'game changer' for recruiting - time will tell.

my guess is 2020 would be the earliest you can expect our AD to start weighing in on WM's tenure. I don't share that timeline, but I don't see it occurring before that season.

I could be off, though - nobody saw Ray parting ways with Chad Holbrook when/how he did, either.
