Yes it is. It was worse than a dumpster fire trust me. We had so many players who either left or were kicked off the team by Croom so it was like coming off probation.

Croom was right to do so but it was like starting over. MSU has #15 ranked class right now and next year is supposed to be even better. Kids in MS actually believe they can win at MSU so I think better days are coming.

Based on?

The actual data and facts would suggest they are closer to peers currently, with ms state being the superior at the current date.

Croom hasn't been there in like a decade, recruits today probably do not even remember him being there.

Time isn't on your side in this argument.

It takes time to change perception. It goes beyond just players. QBs, after seeing Dak, now believe they can go to Mississippi State and succeed. That is my point. That didn't exist in State's entire existence.

Yes, but not for coaches like Mullen who apparently enjoy a lower profile job with more control and more appreciative fans.

It takes three years. What will kill states chance with Mullen was him being on the hot seat two years ago right after the best season state has had ever

Compelling argument dear chap, backed up with data and facts that makes one have no choice but to see your side.

He was never actually on the hot seat. There was a vocal minority on the internet but I promise you that he never dropped below 80% or so approval.

Everyone is gonna have an amazing class next year just due to the amount of talent out there. That being said State nor anyone else is going to stray too far from their past decade normal ranking in recruiting.

Another factor people overlook, he's 45 and has been a HC in the SEC west for 9 years. He could stay at state comfortably until his kids finish high school and go wherever he wants (college or NFL) after they leave home, by the time he turns 55. Not to mention he has a strong team coming back next year and is set to sign a good recruiting class in December, so not exactly like he's playing out the string by staying in Starkville a few more years.

It's according to what you are measuring. The likelihood of ever winning a championship at state is less than at tenn. it could happen, but if you are playing percentages, tenn is better. As for all the rest, it's probably a toss up. I think some coaches want to take a bad situation and rebuild it, is Mullen one of those? I don't know.

How well did those Juco guys have helped this team. Sweat is a sack machine and the possibly the best Juco guy we signed redshirted. The #1 JUCO WR coming in. Plug and Play at it's finest.

Easier to win in the East.
Knoxville is a really nice city in a beautiful area.
Good facilities and stadium.
Likely deep budget at least initially. Easier to get good coordinators.
Less recruiting competition regionally.

With good coaching and solid recruiting I can see Tenn turning their program around quickly.

There will only be troll responses but clearly Tennessee is a superior job and not even close. Recruiting territory, storied history, facilities, fan base and stadium.

tell me more about this superior recruiting territory that UT enjoys over state college/starksville. The high school talent coming out of Tennessee is less than stellar, and that is being kind. Its why the Vols have to recruit nationally in order to compete. And recruiting nationally was effective for them when they were a top 10 team every year for like 20 years....their is enough talent in the 'Sipp alone to field a contending squad, now that SNITCH U collaborated with the NCAA to cripple Ole Miss for the forseeable future.

Yep. Competing with UT Chattanooga, Maryville and Sewanee because that's the talent level in East Tennessee.

High school football outside Memphis and the southern burbs of Nashville is AWFUL.

A coach coming from neither school deciding between the 2 schools would most likely pick UT every time.

But is it a better job for Mullen to leave State for? When he has built up State and owns the program.

I don't think so.
