is UF really a premier job or did Urban just elevate it so much?

Nobody other than Meyer and Spurrier has sniffed greatness at the University of Florida. Spurrier had good years in his coaching prime but still only managed one national title. Meyer doubled that up in far shorter time. His success at OSU coupled with UF's descent into the abyss just goes to prove that the UF success we remember is all Meyer's doing. Combined with the rise of other Florida teams as of late (USF, UCF, FAU now with Kiffin, Miami, FSU until this year) making recruiting difficult, I rank the UF job somewhere between 15-25, but no better. Certainly not top 10.

You misspelled Spurrier, but it's always been one give the location and resources.

Spurrier dominated the SEC. Meyer won two titles. We also should have been awarded the title in 1985.

Yes. Anyone ranking jobs has UF as a top tier job. It wasn't forty years ago, but the population shift changed that.

It's a bad job. No one wants it.

Meyer was a legitimately great hire that got in over his head by recruiting a team full of thugs, so he had himself a convenient health crisis en route to a change of scenery at a more storied program

You misspelled Spurrier

ETA: and whoever said Florida was always a premiere job is way off or young. There was a time that even the Mississippi schools were embarrassed to lose to Florida. Florida became a premiere job when Spurrier arrived.

You have to be a hall of fame coach to win big at Florida. Good luck hiring one of those Gators!

The luster is off and their are no "must have coaches" in my opinion this year.

And LSU doesn't?

This is such a stupid statement.

It's below Alabama, LSU, and Georgia. Only because you have so many other in state schools in Florida.

I think LSU and Georgia should be dominating every year, both in good recruiting beds and pretty much the only game in town.

Sharing with Auburn sucks.

UF is still a premier job in terms of resources and ability to win but I think a lot of programs have caught up in the last 10 years due partially to our complacency with facilities.

For example, I would love to get Justin Fuente but the gap between a job like Virginia Tech and Florida is not as big as it once was.

Great job. Fertile recruiting. Good academics. Nice history of winning.

LSU had to hire a Dline coach.

LSU is not a better job than UF. Part of the job is working for an AD.

LSU's AD automatically moves LSU job out of top fifty.

Easy top 10, and maybe a bit higher than 10. 6-7 range, maybe?

Perception would be

Alabama
Ohio State
Notre Dame
Texas
Oklahoma
USCw
LSU
Florida
UGA
Michigan

Not in that order....but I would think those are all Top 10 jobs. Tennessee has probably dropped out due to their extended struggles and Texas is in danger of dropping out.

I'm sure i am forgetting somebody.

Good job based on location alone. It does lack a passionate fan base. Most of the fans are Fairweather.
