Memphis is getting really close to being more relevant on a national scale.

Gotta be. They're only about 80 miles apart. There are thousands of UM alumni in Memphis.

It kinda used to be back in the Spook Murphy and Johnny Vaught days .... I mean I went to a couple of those when Ray Malavasi was coaching for Coach Murphy and there was even an upset in there, but not really. It was always more Memphis State than it was Ole Miss.

Memphis has much bigger fish to fry on its schedule.

No...we talk shite with local fans, yes. Most OM fans hate the game, would rather play Tulane for N.O. trip.

It's a huge rivalry for them. Ole Miss fans want to beat them, but we could care less.

Ole Miss has owned the series historically: 49-11-2. Ole Miss has struggled with Memphis when the Tigers have a good team though. When Memphis has at least 8 wins, they are 4-6-1 against the Rebs (dating back to 1960).

If ole Miss keeps improving Memphis may start to view it as a rivalry.
