Is the gap in talent between UGA and Alabama getting larger than the other SEC teams

...and what teams seem to be in better shape to close the gap in the east and west. I say it's getting wider...and in the east Florida seems the most likely given the talent in state with South Carolina and Tennessee an outside chance. The west gets a little trickier. I would say Auburn has the best chance with LSU and Texas A&M with an outside chance. This could change in short time depending on coaching changes but for the most part it looks like an SEC, UGA and Alabama and everyone else fighting the for the next rung. Now...tear this opinion apart...lol...

Your opinion is fine. It’s your fat thumbed attempt at stringing together a coherent topic that needs work.
Good edit.
UF and UT will be fine but perhaps not this year. Both of those programs have everything they need to have a resurgence and I think they’ll do it.

Damn UGA really broke y’all, a reminder to never get your hopes up with Boom as coach.

Maybe third place . . . a lot like us. I think Bama and Ga will be clearly at the top when the dust clears.

This is going to trigger a few of us.

I think you can still compete without elite recruiting. You just need to have player development and every couple of years have a really good class of 4th and 5th year players.
Mizzou has done it several times, 2007, 2013, 2014 and maybe this year with Drew Lock and the offense.
Now will you have sustained superior performance like UGA/Alabama/Ohio State? Probably not but that hasn't changed in a 100 years.
The elite programs have always been above most of the rest.

I don't think many of them had a great grasp on how talented Georgia is. They had high hopes largely based on the idea that UGA was probably similar to the late-stage Richt teams athletically. Their beat writers played that up a good bit.

the talent gap can be argued for sure. What matters is how long it lasts. I just dont see other SEC programs staying down for long. You can only have 85 at a time and while everyone tries to make every scholly count, you miss on some of the evals, injuries and suspensions, are part of the game, and of course you get the early NFL kids.(see Bama). You cant tell me aTm wont come back soon, LSU will always be in the mix, The Barn fields a strong team most years, Tenn has enough playing time and quality facilities to come back if they ever get ove CBJ. USCe is improving. Mullen may end up a mistake but UF is sitting in recruiting paradise I dont get all this whining.

AU will be hurt more by Kirby and the Dawgs since auburn depends on Metro-Atlanta for recruits. UGA is in great shape going forward. Your favorite team will have to beat them on the field because you're not going to out recruit them.

I would love nothing better but there's only so much talent you can sign. 35 blue chips statewide in '19 and
26 are in metro Atlanta

Auburn isn't far off of either team talent wise - they beat both UGA and Alabama last year. LSU is the next closest team but then after that there is a significant drop-off. As far as teams that could get closer to the top in terms of talent, it would be UF and Texas A&M. UF wont get there under Mullen though - he's a weak recruiter and so is his staff.

Yea I was looking last week and people picked USCe and I was confused. You can see so much talent on certain teams, and the coaching makes that talent act correctly and quickly.
UGA's defense was flying to the ball because they have confidence in their scheme and the other 10 guys on the field

Not for A&M. I feel like we're finally closing the gap. Should have a top 5 recruiting class in 19 and off to a hot start in 20. We may not finish ahead of UGA & Bama most years, but we stay within striking distance then it'll be close enough talent wise.

Concur wholeheartedly. Richt is gone; however...he did leave talent for Smart to work with. Smart responded by stockpiling the cupboard and getting the best out of what he had left to work with.
The days of UGA playing down to an opponent that isn't as talented are over.

Dumb not to include both Auburn and LSU at this point.
Bama and Georgia both finished 7-1 in SEC play last year.... yet Auburn also finished 7-1 and beat both of them head-to-head.
LSU finished 6-2, but beat Auburn head-to-head. And like it or not, the West teams play a MUCH more difficult conference schedule compared to Georgia.
Does it seem like Georgia and Bama might separate themselves from the pack soon? Yes. But right now there is no concrete evidence to claim its happened.... for Georgia at least. Bama can claim what they want at this point.

gap in talent
Isn't as big as the gap in coaching for most SEC schools. Bama/Ga. have systems in place to keep their teams on track. Most of the other schools have new coaches trying to implement these type of systems, or have subpar coaching.
