Is the average fan participating in NIL? Mark Stoops thinks UK fans should.

Are any of you handing $20 to your schools marketing person for NIL for your favorite players?
Instead of ‘collective,’ Stoops wants business owners and boosters to know they can contribute to a pool of money that is marked as ‘pre-funded endorsement marketing dollars.’ The Average Joe fan can support UK players with NIL efforts, like buying a Will Levis t-shirt from Kentucky Branded. Business owners can contribute similarly.
“Essentially, we need people to understand that it is legal and it is okay…” Stoops said. “… I have so much respect for our boosters and people that have earned their money the right way that I don’t want to put a dark cloud over them because they’re trying to buy players. But they need to understand that it is legal. They are allowed to do this. This is the world that we’re in right now.”
"Some of Kentucky’s competition, like Tennessee and Louisville, have been brazen about their pay-for-play efforts. Others are playing by the rules, yet have shared a different message with eager boosters. Not all of those dollars should go directly to the school. Some of that can, and should, go into pools that can be distributed to athletes as marketing dollars."

Yes. This will replace the calls about your car's extended warranty.

I'll toss in a $20 for that

I feel like the average fan donating to NIL is just a waste of money. Any meaningful contributions have to come from wealthy boosters

Except for every "extended warranty" call you got you will now get 10 calls be careful what you wish for.

I listened live to Stoops yesterday.
He wasn't asking fans like you and me...blue collar Joe Blow. He was asking the boosters and businesses to step up.
They haven't thus far because Mitch's message was not clear and in many instances boosters were outright told no, don't sponsor NIL dollars. Which is pure fricking asshattery.
Proud of Stoops for sacking up and saying what needed to be said. "This is legal, we can do it, and we need the money guys to step up."
Now, can BBN do what you're saying OP? I'm sure there's a way.

Stoops vs Mitch Brainfart I take Stoops all day.
Mitch is mad because he wants to control all the cash and dish it out as he wishes. Mitch would charge fans to breathe the air if he could.

We seem to be well behind on NIL, Barnhart hasn’t embraced it yet.

Barnhart brought you a failed football coaching search when Morris left, and Billy Clyde, so trust him as you will.
He's been a good AD for non revenue sports, but meh when i comes to the ones that pay the bills. I'm glad the board hired Cal against his wishes.

Leave it to the hillbillies to do an NIL-GoFundMe mashup.

It's still unbelievable he would go and hire Billy Clyde. That guy didn't even belong here as an assistant coach. What a clown show he was.

Still, a pool should be available to donate to any player(s) they want.
10 at 20 is 200, but 100 at 20 is 2000. The numbers could ring up.
Or, a "fantasy" pool that includes a percentage of their "win" to the players.
Someone is gonna figure this out and problem make a lot of money.

But the MOU on the napkin was a brilliant touch.

Cal is sucking up all the NIL $$$$$$ in Lexington. Notice today that DJ Wagner was favored to sign with Louisville but now is expected to come to Kentucky. How did Cal manage that except a pile of NIL coming into play. I’m not sure Kentucky is in a position to compete in the new NIL landscape with schools that have boosters with unlimited resources. With Cal getting his off the top, Stoops is in a really tough spot.

Maybe. One thing I've learned in life is there are a lot of people with a lot of money to spend on toys like being a university sports booster.
Sometimes you just need one. T. Boone Pickens for OK. State, and the Waltons for arky and missouri.

It appears as if South Carolina has dedicated a VERY large portion of one of our collectives, supplemented by large individual donations from mega-boosters, to flip GG Jackson from UNC to South Carolina. Never thought I'd see the day South Carolina would be this pro-active in actually doing something about the state of that program.
