If Hugh Freeze was able to stay at Ole Miss, he would have ended Saban's run and the powers-that-be didn't want that.

Nah, not really. He was a dip shite who fell due to his own hubris. He also was responsible for the talent disparity that created some of the worst defenses of all time in 2016-17. I think he deserves another shot, but I've seen this movie before.

Doesn't take away from the creepiness of Freeze, but before the recent Supreme Court decision basically pushed the NCAA aside, the NCAA rigorously defended a economic status quo.

If he didn’t get fired for hookers he would’ve been fired for Wesley McGriff and Phil Longo. Go look at what Longo had at Ole Miss on his rosters and look at his performances against sec teams
Matt Luke kept Longo and McGriff on and you can see the results. Those teams were stacked on offense but couldn’t score. Those defenses were some of the worst in Ole Miss history.
