Is Les Miles as good of a football coach as Nick Saban?

I know this will sound insane, but hear me out. As I conducted an in-depth look into their respective head-coaching records, I was stunned to find the similarities their winning percentage.
At LSU, Nick Saban finished with a record of 48-16 with a winning percentage of 0.75 (Outstanding by anyone's standard's)
Lester, on the other hand, finished with a record of 114-34 during his time at LSU. His winning percentage at the school was actually higher than Saban's. He finished with a winning percentage of 0.77 (elite)
Their record at other schools is also shockingly close. Saban's record at Michigan State was 34-24-1, a winning percentage of 0.578. Miles' record at Oklahoma State was 28-21, a winning percentage 0.571. I consider OSU and MSU to be similar jobs, and their records at each school are almost identical.
What I'm saying is...we will never know what Leslie Edwin Miles could have done at a school with as many built-in advantages (media bias, Birmingham bias, open cheating against Auburn, etc.) as Alabama. Saban has benefited from coaching at Alabama as much as Alabama has benefited from him.

He was a great coach but the game was catching up to his old offense. If he would've adapted he would still be our head coach now but he didn't.

Not even in the same stratosphere.

Les miles took over a completely different LSU program than Nick Saban

People forget that had Miles won in 2011, Miles and Saban would have had the same amount of titles. Instead, Les was Les and you know the rest of the story.

This is probably a troll... but
Saban is the GOAT.... better than anyone, but Miles does somethings very very well and is seemingly a pretty good guy. He also coached at LSU a true powerhouse, not at Arkansas. That helps most decent coaches improve their winning %.

If not for Saban, Les would have been the most successful coach of this generation but no where near the best coach.

Les is criminally underrated.
That said, he was trending downward just as Saban was hitting his stride.
Les was very good. Saban is the best there's been yet.

Say what you want, but Saban walked into a loaded roster.

This. On any given year, LSU has enough talent to win 7-8 games. The state of Louisiana's high school football makes it so. The problem is always coaching.

Meh, not every coach at LSU is great at recruiting.
Gerry was, though.

Saban has 6 National Titles. Les has 1 (with 2 losses). This isn't a discussion.

Interesting point but not sure if I fully agree. Talent wise he fielded elite teams in 05, 06, 07 and 11. Not far off in 10 and 16. Later years he dealt with Saban but had
Les won one more before Saban got things rolling he may have create enough distance to never be caught.
No knock on The Hat, a true College Football legend. He did more in 11 years at LSU than all mediocre programs have in 80 years.

Who started the thread? I responded reasonably but took a little swipe... it’s the Rant after all. Don’t become over sensitive like A&M fans.
