Do you know anything about "TV markets"? Do you really think the only people to watch Vandy games are Vandy people???

No, but apparently you don't understand that fact since you said the primary reason of keeping Vandy around was because of TV markets. Which is the dumbest thing I think I've ever seen on tRant

quote:

Nashville is not about Vanderbilt. However, Vanderbilt is about Nashville

Again, there are fewer than 25,000 Vandy alums in Nashville. Vanderbilt has zero effect on TV ratings from the Nashville market. Zero.

quote:

hosting a major SEC-tied bowl

So does Charlotte. Do we need to add UNC-Charlotte to the SEC?

quote:

and getting on TV every single weekend (which often showcases TWO SEC SCHOOLS). This is how money is made man.

I've got a tip for you: SEC games would be aired on Nashville television sets whether Vandy was part of the league or not. And the ratings are not inflated one bit by Vandy fans.

quote:

The SEC is a brand and Vanderbilt brings in a lot of money for the city because of it.

The SEC is a brand made up of 14 brands.... and the Vandy brand is valued just above worthless when it comes to athletics. Vandy fans make up less than 1% of viewership for SEC sporting events.... and only a little more than 2% of fans in the seats to watch SEC games.

I get wanting to keep them in the league for tradition sake... or academics... or pretty much anything else. But anyone who argues that keeping Vandy should be done because of a FINANCIAL sense or TELEVISION RATINGS sense is clearly not thinking clearly.

Opened your thread just to downvote it. I would also like to add that somebody has got to be the worst program in the conference and Vandy is pretty good at that.

speaking of bad, why is Georgia's men's basketball program so historically bad? Sure, they had that great run in 1983 but obviously that was an anomaly.

Athens is close to Atlanta, the state has good HS basketball but save 3 or 4 years Georgia basketball has been a dumpster fire since the SEC's inception

UGA refuses to update their Basketball facilities

Upgrade facilities and show the elite AAU guys around GA that UGA is serious about Basketball and the players will show up

In the past Basketball has been an afterthought at UGA

.they offer the NASHVILLE TV market...it's all about money, man. Win or lose, they are still SEC and is on TV every week regardless. TV = exposure

This idiotic argument AGAIN? NEWSFLASH:If
Vandy leaves the SEC the Nashville TV market won't change a bit.Geez,do you really think those TV sets in Nashville are all of a sudden gonna stop watching Bama vs LSU cause Vandy is gone? Or UGA vs UT? Geez, more people are MOVING to Nashville every year than there are die hard Vandy fans.

quote:

But, we already have those TV markets and therefore don't need those schools.

You really think the SEC would turn down Clemson because Greenville TV market is "taken"

Do you not understand a national powerlike Clemson brings an audience from New York,Chicago,LA or DC? WGAS about Greenville when you can get a slice
in all those markets?

No, UGA has had 25 times the talent Vandy has had in the past 40 years.

Same number of national championships.

It is time to get rid UGA as they are an obvious blackhole for talent to be wasted.

At least Vandy has academics.

They renovated and updated Stegman in '17 but they probably need to go ahead with a new facility but it sure as heck hasn't helped GT much.

Vandy is having a rough stretch in basketball no doubt. Vandy is also 82-47 all time vs. UGA in basketball. GTFO with this leaving the conference shite. At least we bring a great city, academics, and oh yeah NATTY CHAMPIONSHIPS in major sports.

But seriously, this guy a troll or what?

Going back to the 2014-2015 Academic Year, if you take the SEC Standings of most of the major sports, Vanderbilt is by far the worst athletic program.
Yea...lets just get all quality teams that are equal...then everyone can end up with .500 records and then we become a bunch of nobodies on championship day....SOMEONE HAS TO LOSE FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO WIN....I never understand why people want all strong teams...it's idiotic !

Nah. Just to make things interesting maybe Vandy could rotate from east to west every decade. The West would get Vandy and the East would get one of the West's crappy Maroon and white teams.
