If it were my decision, I'd remove Missouri. Just dont see what at all they contribute. I like Nashville and generally like Vandy. It's also kinda like the couple of smart kids in the fraternity, they bring our collective GPA up.

Vanderbilt wins in baseball and will be back in basketball eventually. They are academically superior to everyone else and produces some tremendous grads. They produce some good NFL talent too, believe it or not. And like someone said earlier, P5 conferences don't kick out their members. Besides, the SEC is set up the way it is to capture TV markets and MAKE MONEY. No one gives up the Nashville market, everrrrrrrr.

If you take the Winning % since the 2014-2015 Academic year in each of the Big 5 sports and then multiply them based on importance:
Football = 50%
M Basketball = 20%
Baseball = 15%
W Basketball = 7.5%
Softball = 7.5%
Here is how the Athletic Programs rank with the bigger sports weighted more heavily:
1. Alabama- 0.710
2. Georgia- 0.624
3. Florida- 0.597
4. LSU- 0.585
5. Auburn- 0.524
6. Texas A&M- 0.519
7. Kentucky- 0.517
8. Miss St.- 0.503
9. S. Carolina- 0.483
10. Tennessee- 0.461
11. Ole Miss- 0.407
12. Missouri- 0.407
13. Arkansas- 0.319
14. Vanderbilt- 0.292
It's actually closer at the bottom then I would have thought with Arky being so terrible in some of the bigger sports.... There is a gigantic gap between Missouri and those bottom 2.
The thing is, Vandy seems to be trending worse in most every sport other than Baseball.
Again, I just don't see what they offer to the league these days.

...they offer the NASHVILLE TV market...it's all about money, man. Win or lose, they are still SEC and is on TV every week regardless. TV = exposure = $. I'd like Vandy to be better. But, in the big picture it doesn't really matter. Alabama is the main money maker for the conference with its national footprint. But, all the other schools contribute their part in the money machine. It's not about "which" schools. If that was the case, the SEC would try to get Clemson or FL State to join. But, we already have those TV markets and therefore don't need those schools. You may not think certain schools bring value, but I guarantee you, the St. Louis (Missouri), Houston (A&M), and Nashville (Vandy) are financially important to the conference.

There is no "Big 5" sports in the NCAA. There is men's football and basketball, every other sport is still pretty much money losing amateur activity. There's no reason to separate baseball from Track or gymnastics, etc... when otherwise evaluating all sports programs

...and to be totally honest, football is the only real money maker...which is why we all make money if Alabama remains good in football. LOL, it's the truth. Just look at the statistics and TV ratings. It's just how it is.

Terrible take. Vandy is an original member.
They havent had a great stretch in basketball lately thanks to two terrible hires but they are normally one of the bigger league pains in UKs arse.
Their basketball and baseball programs are better than Georgia's traditionally OP. You need a reality check.

If you think the Nashville television market is made up entirely of rabid Vandy fans then you're misinformed.
There are fewer than 25,000 Vandy alums in the Nashville area. Of those, likely fewer than half regularly watch their team on TV as Vandy has the highest percentage of alums who care nothing about sports.
Actual Vandy fans don't move the needle when it comes to TV ratings.

Texas A&M's alumi base is the largest in the SEC, and the size of their fan base that regularly watches games is likely also the largest or in the Top 2 or 3. Missouri also has a decent size fan base since they are the only major school in their state, and Missouri is fairly populous.
But Vandy is not on the same level. They have a very small alumni base that cares little about athletics. They can barely get 20,000 fans into their stadium for home games. Vandy fans are not what is driving ratings in the Nashville market.

Okay. Then take out Baseball and there is even more of a reason to look at getting rid of Vandy.
They are historically the worst football program... its not even close.
And now they are increasingly terrible in Basketball.... setting records for the longest SEC losing streak.
At some point when does the SEC stop offering handouts to programs not pulling their weight?

Go to whatever search engine you prefer and type in the letters FOIA. Then realize that having a private school in your conference (which also happens to be the best academic school in the conference by far) exempts intra-conference correspondence from FOIA requests.

Do you know anything about "TV markets"? Do you really think the only people to watch Vandy games are Vandy people??? Grow a brain, dude. Vandy doesn't play itself. Nashville is not about Vanderbilt. However, Vanderbilt is about Nashville, bringing in tons of out of town money into the city, hosting a major SEC-tied bowl, and getting on TV every single weekend (which often showcases TWO SEC SCHOOLS). This is how money is made man. The SEC is a brand and Vanderbilt brings in a lot of money for the city because of it. I couldn't imagine how much money Nashville made off the LSU game last fall. That's just one example. Vanderbilt is financially important to the conference. Peace bro.
