Going back to the 2014-2015 Academic Year, if you take the SEC Standings of most of the major sports, Vanderbilt is by far the worst athletic program.

Football:

1. Alabama: 43-5
2. Georgia: 36-12
3. LSU: 33-15
4. Florida: 31-17
5. Auburn: 26-22
6. Texas A&M: 24-24
6. Miss St.: 24-24
8. Missouri: 21-27
9. Kentucky: 20-28
10. S. Carolina: 19-29
10. Tennessee: 19-29
10. Ole Miss: 19-29
13. Arkansas: 11-37
14. Vanderbilt: 10-38

Men's Basketball:

1. Kentucky: 75-21
2. Florida: 61-35
3. S. Carolina: 56-40
4. Tennessee: 54-42
4. Arkansas: 54-42
6. Alabama: 48-48
7. Auburn: 47-49
7. Texas A&M: 47-49
9. Ole Miss: 46-50
10. LSU: 45-51
11. Miss. St.: 41-55
12. Georgia: 38-58
13. Vanderbilt: 37-59
14. Missouri: 23-71

Women's Basketball:

1. S. Carolina: 77-10
2. Miss St.: 72-15
3. Texas A&M: 58-29
4. Tennessee: 57-30
5. Kentucky: 52-34
6. Missouri: 49-38
7. Georgia: 46-41
8. LSU: 43-44
9. Auburn: 33-53
10. Arkansas: 28-59
11. Florida: 28-59
12. Alabama: 25-62
13. Vanderbilt: 21-66
14. Ole Miss: 19-68

SEC Softball:

**Vandy is only team in the SEC without a team

I mean obviously they more than carry their weight in baseball, but that's the only sport that really matters in which they field a competitive program these days.

I feel like the current atmosphere in college athletics just doesn't support a school like Vanderbilt with the ability to compete. At this point, they are bringing zero value to the league. I understand they are a Charter member of the conference, but at some point they either need to invest in competing in athletics or drop out.

If you are going to reference softball...why not baseball? I bet I know why.

That is never going to happen. P5 conferences do not kick out members

They aren’t going anywhere. They LOVE that SEC check they get at the end of the year.

I did. I said they "more than carry their weight" in baseball.

Why not put the numbers? I'm sure they are one of the top 3 by wins.

speaking of bad, why is Georgia's men's basketball program so historically bad? Sure, they had that great run in 1983 but obviously that was an anomaly.

Athens is close to Atlanta, the state has good HS basketball but save 3 or 4 years Georgia basketball has been a dumpster fire since the SEC's inception.

Don’t be stupid! Vandy has a more recent NC than UGA in the big 3

That's true, but only in the last 10-15 years has college athletics become such a money maker.

I mean look at Average Football Attendance for 2018:

1. Alabama: 101,562
2. LSU: 100,819
3. Texas A&M: 99,844
4. Tennessee: 92,984
5. Georgia: 92,746
6. Auburn: 84,462
7. Florida: 82,328
8. S. Carolina: 73,628
9. Arkansas: 59,884
10. Miss St.: 58,057
11. Ole Miss: 55,685
12. Kentucky: 55,117
13. Missouri: 51,466
14. Vanderbilt: 28,045

I mean the gap between them and #13 Missouri is unbelievably large.... they also probably fudge their attendance by a larger percentage than any of the others to try to make it as presentable as possible. No telling how many of those fans are Visitors also.

I mean we have a school in the league in this day and age who is likely bringing 15,000 real home fans to their home football games on average. There are high schools that have better attendance.

I agree, OP, they need to go. if they want to commit to athletics that's another matter. but apparently they are never going to.
