They keep making rules trying to stop Saban and the SEC in general, and it keeps backfiring on them.
Oh, we don't like it that 2 SEC teams made it to the BCS, lets finally go to 4 after we didn't want that until then.
Oh, we don't like it that the playoffs keep getting won by SEC teams and they had 2 teams in the playoffs, let's add more teams.
And when the SEC gets 6 teams in the playoffs, which isn't unlikely because there have been times with 4 and 5 SEC teams in the top10, it's going to be the same shite.
And if something like last year happens where the SEC teams beat the shite out of the others in the games, you're going to end up even more SEC teams in the final 4 and even more national championship games with 2 SEC teams.
They are going to need a 32 team playoff, that way it's mathematically impossible to get 50% of the playoffs with SEC teams. Even then it won't matter when it gets to the top.
Adding teams is just going to make the problem worse and these people either don't give a shite and want a money grab, or they are fricking stupid and can't see the obvious. If you want to change who makes these games, then these teams need to improve.
Soon it will all start the season as a playoff format so all will be in it from start to end!

CFB is going to shite. It was bad enough when they took the Defense out of the game. Then they had the bright idea for a playoff. Now not only will they expand it to 12 but sooner or later I fear it’s going to look a lot like March Madness and they have totally ruined CB by making the regular season totally irrelevant.

Regardless of what the immediate recruiting impact of an expanded playoff would be, I think it would eve out eventually to around what is present now, with maybe a bit more parity but not a lot
However, as far as people arguing against the expansion, I don’t get it. Seriously though, can anybody name a single sport where the only people that have a shot at a championship are the people that finished top 4 in the regular season? I mean that’s just not a format that exists. At some point CFB had to transition to a playoff that rewarded dark horse and underdog teams for impressive seasons, and made room for genuine possible upsets in postseason play. And not just a 3 over a 2 type upset, like a 12 over a 1.
Personally I think it should have been 8 or 16, so it was a straight bracket as opposed to a bracket with byes, but regardless I think this will be good, and even if it might be just as chalk as softball usually is, at least now there will be proof every year that none of the contenders could have been better than the national champion.
If it really does stay chalk though, I wonder how many on this board would be willing to embrace a change in CFB that cracks down on recruiting to the point where it is impossible for athletes to receive anything but a scholarship offer, and I wonder how close it would get after that

The only group benefitting a 12-team playoff are the networks and sports entertainers. The playoff only encourages mediocrity. It will be like every other pro sport where the athlete only plays hard during the playoffs. Along with NIL, this is the beginning of the end.

You're going to see some absolute BLOOD BATHS similar to LSU vs Oklahoma with a 12 team format. All this "what could a Cinci or UCF do" will backfire as well.

College football was dying with the current format. It’s boring as shite with the same 3 or 4 teams every year.
And you think this will change?

It's been crap for some time, your eyes are finally opening to see it.
