Chris Steele’s name is in the Transfer Portal, let’s get this Dopey Dan and Jort’s joke party started.

Mullen making fun of Georgia freshmen leaving after the season, and half of his class isn’t gonna make it to fall camp.

Mullen is in over his head already in year 2

Florida freshman cornerback Chris Steele is transferring from the school. The former five-star recruit has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. Steele met with UF coach Dan Mullen on Wednesday night and informed him, a source close to the situation told The Sun.
The decision stems from a request Steele made to the staff during his first month on campus, the source said. He asked to be moved to a different dorm because he was uncomfortable rooming with quarterback Jalon Jones, his classmate. The staff did not plan to move Steele until the summer, which upset Steele and his parents, according to the source.
Then two female students accused Jones of sexual assault at the players’ dorm on April 6. That prompted Steele to seek a transfer. Jones has not been charged but has left the school. Regarding Steele’s decision to transfer, the Florida football program had no official comment on Thursday. Steele committed to the Gators at the All-American Bowl on Jan. 5 and enrolled early the following week. He received first-time reps in the spring and was expected to make an immediate impact this season.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Steele was the highest-rated recruit in UF’s 2019 class, earning a consensus top-50 ranking and a five-star rating from Rivals.com. He was Florida’s first California signee since 2010, hailing from St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, Calif.

Yeah, that's really fricked up.
He definitely can't trust our staff if it comes out that Jalon sexually assaulted two women later and he was asking to leave that long ago.
Our staff is supposed to protect our players, and if you start seeing stuff like that (even if it comes out later that Jalon did nothing) and want to get away from it, our staff should have relocated him.

Yep.
This is a HUGE red flag. UF's administration doesn't frick around with this type of thing.
This story isn't going anywhere any time soon and could explode in the next few weeks.

I'm sure we were always going to ask Jalon to transfer, regardless of what happened with those women -- but if it comes out that the other roommates with them were asking for dorm changes very early, then it looks like the staff just ignored them and could have implicated them with sexual assault by proxy.
Really fricked up if true.

I actually feel sorry for Steele, if that is truly the case. And I think the kid is a massive locker room issue waiting to happen

First McElwain with the shark, now this.
Some real sexual issues down there.

I think Steele is an "all about me" type of player, which probably didn't help him in this situation (probably thought he was doing the same thing right here), but it just can't be downplayed that a dude was trying to get a dorm relocation because his fricking roommate was sexually assaulting people.
Even if it's logical from the staff's standpoint that he's just being bigheaded, the fact of the matter is: He could have easily gotten caught up in this, the girls could have said he didn't do anything, didn't report anything and he's just as fricked as Jalon is right now.
Bad luck for everyone around, Steele would have been good at Florida.
Also just for an update: I've heard Steele is 100% gone, so even though he 'only' entered the portal, there will be no second guessing.

Instinctively, I assumed this would be about an entitled kid. But it sounds perfectly reasonable to expect to change roommates when said roommate was behaving poorly and potentially jeopardizing your standing. There must be some serious bad blood between Mullen and this kid's family because this seems like an easy fix.

Although this may be true. Jaydon Hill (the other roommate -- who people are speculating is leaving as well) said that's not the reason he's transferring.

Or maybe he's just not cool with being ignored when he tells the staff he's living with a rapist and nothing happens.

Sorry Steele family, but did you not do any research into Mullen's background before signing with him? Mullen has the history of turning a blind eye toward thugs and woman-beaters. Should have known going in.

But does THIS constitute Dan Mullen lying to recruits? Because when it was just Jones assaulting girls it was a gotcha for the UGA fanbase (somehow) So I just want to know where I’m supposed to stand now on the irony of Mullen’s previous comments about Smart and Fields.

At least read the conversation, goddamn. You guys randomly jump in without any context and say whatever dumb shite comes off the top of your head.

Apparently the football team can't just move a student to a different room. There is paperwork involved and the school administration has to approve.
It's not like you can just accuse someone of being a bad seed and get what you want even if you're ultimately right.
He probably ends up at SUC.

If he didn’t want to be around criminals, why did he go to Florida in the first place?
