All I have seen officially is that the CWS has been canceled but games are still on after March 30 so far.

All spring sports are cancelled. Baseball is a spring sport. In other news, I am dead inside.

Where are you seeing this? The SEC site still says until March 30 as of 4 hours ago.

Today, NCAA President Mark Emmert and the Board of Governors canceled the Division I men’s and women’s 2020 basketball tournaments, as well as all remaining winter and spring NCAA championships. This decision is based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, our ability to ensure the events do not contribute to spread of the pandemic, and the impracticality of hosting such events at any time during this academic year given ongoing decisions by other entities.

I understand that for Ole Miss the baseball season and the CWS is not related, but the season is over.

The statement only referred to championships, not the seasons themselves.

Sort of stands to reason that if they cancel the CWS, then there's no need to play the rest of the season. It's cancelled.

They crown whomever had the longest win streak as of today as the CWS champion.

They did kind of leave it hanging, but the Big Ten has just canceled spring sports, period, they're done with, and I'd be stunned if the other conferences didn't follow their lead.

Ross Dellenger
@RossDellenger
The #SEC has not made a decision on spring sport seasons & its own postseason tournaments, source says.

Despite #NCAA's cancelation, the league could still hold things such as the baseball and softball tournaments. Long way from when those events are scheduled (2+ months).

Sec schools are appealing the decision. Canceling the season would wreck local economies.

The one sport we are decent at and are finally able to watch the games and some bat eating Chinaman kicks it in the grapes.

Thus is the life of an Arkansas fan.

For having the longest win streak this season, we have every right to a claim for this title

At one point, they were going to allow the baseball games but just staff instead of fans. I'd settle for watching the games on TV in empty stadiums. As someone else said, local economies of college towns are going to be decimated. The trickle down effect of this will be felt longer than anyone imagines.

In Kentucky's case this was a merciful decision.

What kind of dumbass Mississippi question is this? What the frick do you think the season is played for? Shits and giggles? It's to make it to Omaha and win a title. What would be the point in playing if the cws is cancelled already?

Nevermind, I'm sorry, I should have known that an ole miss poster wouldn't understand about playing for championships.
