I think once 3-4 dominos fall they'll pack it all up.

Like they did with the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament, and then March Madness?

Yep, though the biggest difference is everyone knows the magnitude of the decisions here in terms of money. It won't be nearly as neat and tidy as that 24-48 hr period was. People are going to be fighting for their athletic department's lives, but they'll also all know that they don't want to be the "face" of the "make these kids play and get sick" argument.

It's going to be messy.

I mean this was brought up over and over a few weeks ago as cases rose and people were just like "LOL PVSSIES".

People decided to go to bars, have parties, not give a shite. Well, SEC states are going to have cases triple/quadruple their April/May numbers for the next month, and when that combined with football players (who live in those states) keep testing positive in large numbers? They ain't playing. This was easy as shite to see coming and people just decided they wanted football so it'd happen, regardless of the real world.

The argument of "they should play because COVID won't hurt them" is all well and good and maybe even correct - but it doesn't matter because public policy does not agree. And it didn't agree a month ago, but people just decided that was dumb and they didn't like it so they chose to believe we'd play because they wanted it

Then those states are being run by idiots who can't understand basic math and they should all be voted out next election for being incompetent.

Because this comparison is apples and oranges:

We do not have an equal amount of cases as a few months ago right now, much less an excess. The only way you can come to such a conclusion is if you look only at the raw numbers without context.

So it's still as dumb now as it was back then.

The mortality rate is 0.25% or lower. Extremely lower based on the demographics.

If these people can't figure out a way to navigate past this, then they should be fired.

I'm not worried at this point, with all the off the field bull shite my interest is at the lowest it's been in a long time. If it dies it dies

What he said. Outside of missing out on the experience of taking my kids to games I frankly don’t give a crap.

But like I said - this isn't an argument about whether the decision is smart or not, it's whether it'll happen or not.

And I think we all see how these decisions have been made so far, and assuming a continued increase in reported cases and states moving backwards in "opening", etc........all it will take is 2-3 big public cases of outbreaks in the first few weeks of practice and the rush will be on to end it.

We can all disagree, but I think also all know that's how this will play out. Hopefully not though.

But you know they won't, right? I mean, there are lots of these things where the people in charge can't solve simple problems . I don't know why this one would be any different.

I just have absolutely zero trust that people in charge can creatively find a way to make this happen. Like others in here, I've pretty much accepted it.

Cancel the season...in fact, cancel all college athletics. Academics has become an inconvenience to athletes.

If students want to play their favorite sport, concentrate on an inter-mural league.

Heck they canceled the CWS before the dominos were even out of the box.

And I think people should stand up and tell these people they need to be adults and make adult decisions instead of acting like a bunch of soccer moms.

It's just a fact that these cases are not the same thing as what was happening before. We are not going to see the same death rates because they are testing different types of people/symptoms now.

It's like taking a bucket of saltwater, then taking a bucket of freshwater and pretending like it's the same thing because you have 1 gallon of each. Yeah, you have 1 gallon of water. But if you look at what's actually in each gallon of water, it's quite a bit different. And to pretend that it's the same thing is either foolish or malicious at the extremes.

And we know so much more now than back then. Even if we excuse what happened previously for the panic and lack of information - that is really no longer the case. We know the mortality rate isn't what the confirmed rate says, which is what they scared everyone with. It's really about 0.25%. Not much worse than a bad flu season.

And even back then it was all about putting too much on the healthcare system, and it never did. Now we've shifted to this weird mindset that there has to be very little risk at all before things can resume?

I just really don't see an excuse for it. We need leaders who understand these things and do what's right. Not because they are worried about being "canceled" because of the way a minority of people/media will spin it.

As long as the powers that be and decision makers in CFB continue to say that there will be a season, I'm not going to worry about it.

They could say that it's up in the air or that they aren't sure or anything similar to that. Instead they are saying that they're certain that there will be football this fall in some sort of way.

I think they will at least try to play. There may be a postponement or even a cancelation, but I expect to see some games played.

If it's going to be chaotic and uneven, not worth it. See ya in 2021 and.... LSU 2019 National Champions.

Why? That’s stupid. I don’t GAS about the fans. I watch for the players.

We all watch for the players. You don't think the games will lose a smidge of the fun and excitement with empty stands? That's his point.

Im just glad LSU is the National champ. If that’s the last cfb game played for 2 years, I’m glad it was us.
