I haven’t posted here in awhile but is there anyone else genuinely worried about the start of the season?
We have Lincoln Riley talking about moving it to the spring.

I am worried.
Fwiw I would rather move the season back a few months and have fans in the stands then start in September in front of empty stands

Why? That’s stupid. I don’t GAS about the fans. I watch for the players.

Football in the Fall is not consistent with the talk and action of leaders nationwide. I don't see how it will happen. Sometime in 2021 is my guess but it is simply a guess like all others.

I mean this was brought up over and over a few weeks ago as cases rose and people were just like "LOL PVSSIES".
People decided to go to bars, have parties, not give a shite. Well, SEC states are going to have cases triple/quadruple their April/May numbers for the next month, and when that combined with football players (who live in those states) keep testing positive in large numbers? They ain't playing. This was easy as shite to see coming and people just decided they wanted football so it'd happen, regardless of the real world.
The argument of "they should play because COVID won't hurt them" is all well and good and maybe even correct - but it doesn't matter because public policy does not agree. And it didn't agree a month ago, but people just decided that was dumb and they didn't like it so they chose to believe we'd play because they wanted it.

Summer of George I agree man I know we all needed to get back to work but things are looking a lot worse than they were a month or two ago

Yea, I mean it sucks. Nobody wants there to be no football. But nothing at this point is lining up for them to do the logistical things required to play football. Maybe deaths won't rise and they will be a shift to not take "cases" as seriously - if so, they've got a chance. But if things are continued to be treated the same as they are now and everyone who gets it basically has to go off-grid for 2 weeks? And states are moving away from opening things and putting up barriers to other states residents entering? No way they play.
I mean how the hell is Florida State going to play at Syracuse? How is Oregon going to go play at USC or UCLA?
It just isn't gonna happen.

Logistically it is all fricked up

Lol. There is NO chance there will be more than a few games per team at the most. The Ruling Class is screaming their intentions at you .

Just think about this logically for minute. Let's say somehow we get through the fall without enough cases and enough teams having to cancel chunks of practice to still play a season.
Here are some games in week 1/2
- Oregon State @ Oklahoma State
- Florida Atlantic @ Minnesota
- North Carolina @ UCF
- Alabama vs USC (Dallas)
- Eastern Washington @ Florida
- New Mexico @ Mississippi St
- UCLA @ Hawaii
- TCU @ Cal
- Michigan @ Washington
- South Florida @ Texas
- Georgia Southern @ Boise State
- FSU vs West Virginia (Atlanta)
- Ole Miss vs Baylor (Houston)
- Idaho @ Temple
- Wyoming @ ULL
- Tennessee @ Oklahoma
- Houston @ Washington State
How many of those games happen, just logistically? How we deal with the fact that some programs are definitely going to end up in positions where they are pressured by the state or their administration to shut things down when they get a major outbreak, or their state is drowning in cases? Does everyone else keep playing? Do some teams play 9 games? Do we just scrap non-conference games on the fly?
College football is such a big entity with so many moving pieces - it's just going to be really, really hard to keep it going for 3 months IMHO. And it's really going to suck when it kind of starts and then gets sort of shut down, and then everyone argues, and then everyone gets pressured to shut down.

I'm not worried at this point, with all the off the field bullshite my interest is at the lowest it's been in a long time. If it dies it dies

Even if we start, there will be many disruptions. Going to be very hard to pull this off.

I think the biggest thing will be whether teams/conferences are willing to play a season in which some teams play 11 games and some play 8, some teams have to cancel their season (mostly non-P5 teams), some teams refuse to go play other places, etc.
If they are, then they may play a season. I just don't think they are willing to do that. I think once 3-4 dominos fall they'll pack it all up.

No, I'm past that and have moved from accepting it to now not giving a shite
Posted on 7/2/20 at 3:56 pm to SummerOfGeorge
And also states are going back to phase 1

Yep - it's just hard to see it from where we are, right now, on July 2 and the trends of the last 3 weeks........with practices in 1 month and games in 2 months.
I hope I'm wrong.

Uscw just announced today they are almost going all online for fall. Only 10-20% classes in person. If students are not there can you really bring players in and still keep the facade of student athlete.
