LSU fans are obsessed with gumps.
Gumps seem more obsessed with LSU than Auburn recently.

Did Caveman Orgeron elevate LSU to replace Auburn as Bama’s rival?

Would this have happened with Gus still at the helm?

No. We are just the biggest/most consistent threat to potentially unseat them in the west every year.

Auburn is their rival and we can’t forget the sacred game they have against Tennessee

Just football bro. Overall 10-20 years back we’ve dominated the Gumps in athletics!

Yes they’ve won the football battle the past 10 years! Congrats!

That changes when nick retires

It's been a rivalry since Saban went to Bama. It wasn't a very competitive rivalry from 2012-2018, but LSU finally winning one in 2019 helped to put some life back in it. Several truly classic games in that time-span even though most were victories for the Crimson Tide.

2007: LSU takes the lead with a TD by Jacob Hester with less than 2 minutes to go.

2008: Alabama wins in OT on a pick

2009: Alabama wins following a "controversial" call where an interception by Patrick Peterson was ruled OOB.

2010: LSU wins in a back and forth affair where Alabama pulls within a FG with over 3 minutes left.

2011: LSU wins on Alabama missed field goals.

1/9/12: Alabama shuts out LSU in the title game

2012: Alabama wins on essentially a walk-off TD after LSU took the lead inside 2 minutes.

2014: basically a repeat of 2012

2016: Alabama shuts out LSU 10-0 with their sole TD coming on a controversial non-call scramble by QB Jalen Hurts.

2019: LSU finally gets the monkey off their backs and wins in a back and forth thriller where no lead ever felt safe for a second

No. 1-9 over the past decade and no history to help like Tennessee. LSU found a little success while Alabama was down, it was short lived.

Other than the period of Bama's probation and scholarship penalties, lsu is a typical SEC "rival" - win once or twice a decade. If Saban hadn't been in red stick for a few years and built a program with some staying power, lsu = ole miss.

You’re obsessed with dicks, that doesn’t mean you’re rivals though

An 18-Time National Champion doesn’t have a rival.

Because like all things L1U, we only count from 2000 forward.

I guess I’m lucky football is the most important one then. Have fun supporting LSU women’s soccer team I guess.

Yes.

A third place rivalry. Even after how far Tennessee has fallen.

But a 3rd place on the rise in the big scheme.

Alabama’s historical rivals are Auburn and Tennessee. LSU Alabama is just usually a big game.

Going back to 2000, LSU has won 15 NCs and Bama 13. "Only" 6 of Bama's were football.

Bama played a weak "all" SEC schedule just well enough for Bama fans to think they might have had the best season ever. The fact that it wasn't even a top 5 season for them in actuality has sent them over the edge.
