I don't know if they will or not, but the point of this comparison that Mandel made was those exact same thoughts were floating around re: Oklahoma in 1997 too.

Oklahoma was a blue blood. It was only a matter of time. Tennessee has never been considered among the blue bloods of college football.

These people saying UT will never come back are idiots and probably very young. UT is as close to a blue blood as the SEC has outside of Alabama with all the facilities, fan base, and recruiting base required to win national titles. Is UT loaded with in state talent? No, but neither is Alabama/Auburn. Knoxville is within a 2-4 hour drive of the Carolinas, Atlanta, and Birmingham though. UT continues to recruit top 15-20 type classes despite being awful on the field, which should tell you a lot about how well they can recruit if they started winning again. The right coach at any Big 6 program can win titles.

I don't know you but I like you!

Colorado/Nebraska was the Big 8 game of the year back then when I started watching. OU was usually missing bowl games.

At least you can laugh at the truth. Tennessee has two national championships in the Poll Era: 1951 and 1998. The vast majority of their success is from 80-90 years ago.

In the last 50 years, the Vols have won just one national championship and six conference championships.

Yep, can't be a blue blood if you have fewer AP/Coaches titles than UF.

I knew you'd have something to say and we both know you're trolling.

And yet there are all-time rankings that have UF ahead of UT.
Remember, you yourself said that beating UF is "big" deal.

Tennessee's 1967 national championship claim is even more of a joke than Alabama's 1941 national championship claim.

USC was awarded the 1967 national title by the AP, UPI, and (you're welcome, Korin) the FWAA - the Holy Trinity if you will. Tennessee's lone selector was some random mathematician named Litkenhous.

The Vols finished 9-2 that year, #2 in all three major polls, and lost their bowl game.

OU was bad in the 90s but was God-awful bad during John Blake’s 3 year’s of complete mismanagement resulting in a 3 year 12-22 record. Common occurrences were:
•Time outs called to avoid 12 men on the field for punts
•Rotating quarterbacks each series
We lost to friggin Tulsa at home and they had a 99 yard TD run.

I doubt Tennessee ever looked as pathetic in the past decade.
