LSU having lost 5 consecutive season openers is an absolutely wild stat, especially considering they’ve had some pretty good teams during that stretch.

That's honestly incredible.. Besides LSU, has a P4 team ever lost 5 straight openers? Seriously, I bet that list is small if anyone else is on it.
----- I asked Google
Yes, a Power 4 college football team has lost five consecutive opening games. LSU lost its season-opening game five years in a row, from the 2020 to the 2024 season.
Details on the losing streak:
• Team: LSU Tigers
• Conference: SEC
• Timeframe: 2020–2024
• Note: The five-game streak included three losses under coach Brian Kelly and two under his predecessor, Ed Orgeron.
History of similar streaks in the SEC LSU's losing streak is not the only instance of a Power 4 team starting five or more consecutive seasons with a loss. Several SEC programs have endured even longer streaks:
• Alabama: Lost seven straight openers from 1953–1959.
• Kentucky: Lost six straight openers from 1952–1957.
• Vanderbilt: Lost seven straight openers from 1998–2004. This was wrong. They won in 2001.

To be fair it is all power 4 schools they're losing to, its not like they're losing to the mac and sunbelt teams most teams play in their openers.

Bo Pelini decided to play man to man and chased Leach's offense all day. It was actually worse than the score would indicate.

I'll admit, when K.J. Costello came out and threw for 600 yards and 5 TDs, I was concerned.

A couple of those losses suck, a couple were to really good teams.
But yeah, if LSU was opening with Lighthouse for the Blind, like several SEC schools do every year, it would be 5-0 in this category.

From what I am hearing. There is a chance they move to 0-6 after their game concludes this season. Terrible look for BK and those Tigah's.

Now add 2023 and 2024 to the list.

As bad as that would be, I can't imagine the humiliation of watching my programs best team ever lose to those "tigahs".
Continue on with the game of limp biscuit though

I've noticed a lot of Big Ten fans on social media pretending like this too.
You can't point out one or two data points and ignore the previous 10.
Statistics don't work that way.
