Florida and Auburn don't compete in the LSU threads.

It's aggy/bama for the ALL LSU, ALL THE TIME threads.

What will bama do to continue saban's legacy, once he retires?

Considering Alabama has won a title in almost every decade for the last century, I'm going to assume this program will be just fine.

Also, an average coach like Les Miles was able to secure a national title with Saban's leftover recruits.

I have a few serious questions for you, as well.

Do you believe the cupboard will be bare when Saban decides to retire? Do you also believe that the undisputed most dominant program in college football history will not find the best coach available (or not available) waiting to take over for him and keep this train rolling?

Please, answer honestly.

Absolutely not.

I believe bama will find the best coach available when saban retires.

Now that is the ultimate question. I believe whomever is hired will have success, but I do not think that person will be a saban clone, and therefore, will not have the same overall success.

Yea, we'll keep being good for 3-4 years whoever we hire (assuming it's a "good" hire and not a disaster, which I anticipate with our current AD) because of what Saban built and how sturdy it is.

However, there is nobody on earth that will continue to do what Saban has done. Even if we make a great hire who does a good job he will lose more games than Saban, not recruit at the same level as Saban and be more inconsistent than Saban. That's just how it will be - even in the best case scenario.

That should be the new LSU model. Get a national championship and fire the coach or get him hired elsewhere so that we can get working on the next one as soon as possible.

In most cases it likely wouldn't be a bad idea. One thing I've learned over the past years is that it's not that difficult to get to the top(relatively speaking), but maintaining that level is a whole other story. That's what makes Saban so different, he is able to maintain it.

But outside someone like a Saban, most of them lose the drive and sit on their past success too much.

On the other hand, a bad hire can really hurt a program. Dooley at Tennessee for example.

IMO it's relatively easy to break into the top 10 like an Oregon or Wisconsin type team. But, it's a completely different ballgame getting into the CFP. Then, as you say, sustaining that and overcoming complacency is the most difficult thing to do which is what makes Saban the best ever in this day of the rules being set up for parity.

The upvote/downvote count is at 19 to 41. Not even close to 17 to 55 yet.

I prefer the 21-0 Upvote/Downvote threads as well.

Thank you for the honest, well thought out post. I agree with you. There is no way in hell that the success over the last dozen years will be duplicated...this run has been historic.

They'll hire the person they feel best about.

The train won't "keep rolling," Bama will be good but not as consistent as they are now.

The amount of anti-LSU threads is off the charts...y’all have more than Florida, Auburn, and A&M combined.

I dunno, seems to me anybody who would bother
counting subject matter of threads on a
message board, is probably dealing with insecurity.

to be fair, and intellectually honest,

don't you think the subject matter of the LSU cessed threads is a bit insecure?
