Wildcat Authority Hot Board

quote:

The Arizona administration will have to navigate the results of the IARP that are likely coming next summer, firing of Miller, and hiring of a new coach. The public eye will likely be on the hire because of how everything has gone down and Arizona will have to convince a new coach that the punishment will not take away from the ability to move forward and build a successful program.

The following is a list of names that we are confident will come up during the coaching search. We will update it every time we get a new piece of news, whether it is an interview, rumor, or someone dropping out of the race.

- Tommy Lloyd (Gonzaga Assistant)

- Mark Pope (BYU Head Coach)

- Josh Pastner (Georgia Tech Head Coach)

- Eric Musselman (Arkansas Head Coach)

- Damon Stoudamire (Pacific Head Coach)

- Miles Simon (LA Lakers Assistant Coach)

- John Beilein (former Michigan Head Coach)

- Kelvin Sampson (Houston Head Coach)

- Jason Terry (Arizona Assistant Coach)

- Mike White (Florida Head Coach)

I'm not sure how they are going to convince a coach from a power conference to go there with the unknowns.

I thought most of the list made some sense except for Musselman. I don't quite get that one at all. What is the connection besides Muss coaching at Nevada? He was an assistant at Arizona State for a few years?

Mike White only would make sense because of the growing grumbling in Gainesville and a potential mutual agreement.

Gotta end up being one of those Arizona alums from the 1990s, doesn't it?

Nobody is gonna want that job. Too much uncertainty

They are gonna have to take a chance on an Assistant Coach who has never been a HC IMO

Thats really the only type of coach from a big conference I can see leaving. There wouldn't be much of a fight to keep him.

Pastner has sort of been in that spot too but I think after this year they will put up a fight to keep him around.

All the rumors that float around say Musselman has mentioned eventually moving back out west... but to a school with impending sanctions? Yeah, he's staying at Arkansas.

It's taking forever to get his contract signed for whatever reason, but we just picked up Pitt guard Au'diese Toney and just signed Miami guard Chris Lykes today. Muss isn't going anywhere.

Tommy Loyd was on my list after Avery Johnson got fired. He's the main recruiter for the Zags. Man has a family and may be tempted to jump for a lot of money.

Kelvin Sampson

He’s a truly great coach, but no way U of A can hire him with all the baggage that he has.

Tennessee is by far better coach that will want to be out at Tennessee due to corruption at Tennessee! Better be careful what you wish for.

I'm interested to see who they can actually get. Normally that is a very good job, but they are staring NCAA sanctions in the face at this time
