How the hell does Butch Jones still have a job? It makes no logical sense why they are still holding on to him. For the Bama game? Haven't you noticed players generally have some revival when coaches get fired and suddenly play better(see USC and LSU with Ed). Firing BUtch last week probably heightened the little chance Tennessee had in this game. There is absolutely no way the players listen to him anymore. No way they have fight left to play for the guy. I almost guarantee every Tennessee player is going in expecting to get destroyed. I just don't understand what is going on at Tennessee. Anyone have a reason Butch is still there? Seems no logical reason why he should still have a job.

Why fire him after Bama is the question. That bye week gave the interim a chance to get his bearings.

He is doing a fine job and deserves and extension.

Even Lord Saban said so.

It should be so.

Players have been making fun of him on Twitter since the UMASS game, if he's not fired Sunday then I'm really not sure what's going on

Let him ride out the Bama game.
Then fire him once Alabama shuts him out.

I honestly see no way he survives the Alabama game. Unless God himself coaches the Tennessee game and upsets Bama.

Maybe if he keeps it close he will survive another week.

But I honestly see Tennessee getting shut out again. and two shut out losses in one season should be the sweet kiss of death.

Rumblings: A deal is done for Butch to "resign" and receive a $4-5M lump sum settlement --because he wants it overwith too -- and it may be announced at any time after the Bama game.

You leave the current pitcher in to give the intentional walk. You let Butch get embarrassed by bama, not new interim guy.

So you're saying he shouldn't be fired until the end of season?

Why would he do that? He's going to get fired and get paid the entirety of his contract.

JG Wentworth can get his cash and get it now if that's what he wants.

Maybe he's such a wuss he wants it overwith so his head doesn't explode?

Remember, this is Butch Jones we're talking about. He ain't the sharpest tool in the shed.

Edit: Also, good point made by David Ricky in another thread:
quote:

I could totally see Butch taking a reduced lump sum buyout immediately if Currie presents the alternative which is Butch finishing the season and destroying his future so badly he never gets another job.

Much like that "token" employee you have at your work place.
you can't just up and fire lesbians these days. You have to cross your t's and dot your i's nowadays.
Especially a state job.
