We probably would have done fairly well that season except for the fact Brodie Croyle went down. Certainly not great, but possibly a 10 win season.

Better than 6-5 but we lost 3 games by 16 or more and probably wouldn't have beaten Auburn. Possibly changes the games with Carolina and Arkansas, maybe Tennessee.

We wouldn't have gone to play gawd forsaken Minnesota in Nashville and gotten sent out of the stadium to Rocky Top, though.

I was at this miserable game. It was 1 of many during that time. After the game we walked down University Drive to the Houndstooth for a cold beverage & as we were leaving there for another bar a big bus led by a police escort was coming by. Standing at the very front of that bus was a gleaming Lou Holtz, huge smile & I'm sure happy that he had brought his team to Tuscaloosa & got a convincing win. To him, Bama being down didn't matter. It was beating a team in their house that had been at the top of the mountain many times in his coaching career.

So USCe has lost less to Bama than has LSU? Incredible! Wow!

Then why did it take USCe 64 years to win a game against UA?

Since 1937, USCe has only beaten UA on the field 3 times.

We had a good team in 04 until stupid arse Shula left Brodie in too long and he tore his ACL. I can’t remember if Marc Guilin or Pennington started that game, I wanna say Guilin because I think Pennington’s 1st start was against UK.

And Ray Hudson got hurt in the 6th game.

Boy that was one miserable season.

Gullion and Pennington were average 1AA QBs. Every game was a defensive slog.

And I was a pledge sleeping like 90 minutes a night. Fvckin awful season.

I think Pennington started it after Gullion was a disaster in Fayetteville, was awful and then Gullion came in......and was even worse.

That's when Pennington "won" the job.

We played you 7 times before joining the SEC
Not saying we are great (we aren’t) but don’t act like this is some long “rivalry” y’all have dominated like Georgia has been dominating us

Since joining the SEC, we are 3-5

Didn't he get hurt in the first series of the 2nd half?

Literally jogging out of bounds on a 3rd and short scramble with no contact

But hey, at least Utah St and WCU were played at 6 PM

You are correct. I was counting 2004 which was before his arrival. My bad.

O Pennington had a good fastball & I'll never forget him using it on potential game winning drive, Music City Bowl against the Golden Gophers. 4th down, probably at the 10 or 15 yard line, wide arse open receiver middle of the endzone. He zipped that fastball 10 feet over the receiver's head into the stands. Gopher's win, another Shula loss.

Marc Guillon vs Carolina/Arkansas
15/36 (42%)
120 yards
3.3 YPA
0 TD/3 INT
53.0 QB Rating

In hindsight that is one of the most hilarious throws I've ever seen.

As you said, he literally threw it 10 feet over Prothro's head. Wide open, middle of the end zone. LOL, jeebus.

Yep.

I don't remember a single thing from this South Carolina game. Maybe I didn't even watch it? I don't remember many things from that season though. Brodie's injury and Spencer Pennington actually playing pretty well against Tennessee are about all I remember.

Probably because of the fact that we threw 24 passes and completed 14 of them : 10 to our team and 4 to their team.
