No. Bama secondary is great but milliner needs to watch it. He had a good game but rewatch the game and tell me where his eyes are. On cover two calls his eyes are in the backfield the entire time but he is just athletic enough to make plays. I'm sure Saban will correct that but he needs to get his eyes to recievers because looking at the quarterback gets you in trouble when the qb can actually read a defense

I think a lot of that had to do with Denard. A lot of times DB's will turn their backs completely to a running QB and then find him running down the sideline for a big gain.

Once again it was one game against a team that's very different from most teams Alabama would play. Too many people are thinking to far to the left or right based on what they saw. A lot of what you saw defensively and the very little you saw offensively was strictly based on playing Michigan.

Apparently SEC POW honors & Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week both prove you wrong

He had 5 tcks, 4 PBUs & 1 INT HIGHLY overrated

So the pissing match continues. I'm sure you rewatched the game and made sure you kept your one good eye on just the michigan receivers every play....ffs.

That doesn't change the fact it was against a hapless QB.

didn't see that, but doesn't matter when the QB doesn't have the time, they got a good rush without blitzing

Like I said they've got a ways to go, but the start was more impressive than I thought they would be particularly Milliner

We'll have some tricks up our sleeve for Bama now that Paul Petrino is back. Bobby's ego got us in trouble a lot because he would keep trying things that didn't work. Paul gets more creative.

With a dual threat QB like DR it's hard for the CB's to commit 100% to only the receiver when DR runs like a 4.3/40.

I think that P Petrino has brought back our deep vertical passing game. IF Wilson has time to throw--and this is unlikely IMO-- we have enough weapons to go deep on you given your secondary.

I think we will try to stretch you over the top to get those damned safeties and monster LBs backed off the line a bit. This will allow us to get Knile and Johnson some gaps to exploit.

In my dreams this is how it will work.

But there is just no way in hell I see us lining up and playing run-first smash mouth FB against the bama D

Well, you guys better shape up with that secondary. By the time the BAMA/LSU game rolls around, LSU will slinging the ball 70 times a game and throwing for 500 yards if the Rant gets what they want.

I agree. I have the slightest idea of what others saw but I
was very impressed with the defense communication. The defensive line was so impressive against the run and containing Denard while pushing the pocket. I knew defensive line was deep but I was very impressed with Brandon Ivory.

This is very good post I was refering to some of the extreme gumps- and you know you have them just like we do and every other team
'
I will be realistic about LSU- if we don't improve very quickly we will have a very disappointing year.

Saban is the best coach- CLM is a great guy - he is the Dale Brown of Football- with the exception that Dale never won the big one.

They are young and will have their moments, but there's a big difference in attacking a running QB and a pocket passer. We can't simply blitz Michigan and not pay for it when he would have scrambled. We'll defend Arkansas far differently.

I am less worried about the secondary than I was before the game. Dee got beat because he was Playing bait the QB and fell down. Belue bit a double move just about as hard as it could be bitten and I hope he watches that film sequence in his sleep for the next 2 weeks. Lester went out with a stinger and our safety help suffered a bit

DR had all day to standard look because of the containment scheme. I believe you will see much more aggressive edge rush from Hubbard, Dickson and Pagan and Wilson will not be given that much time

We shall see

LSU doesn't need to improve IMHO. Les Miles runs a pretty simplistic offense. You know what he's likely to do, but teams can't stop it. I wouldn't worry too much about the N Texas game... it's hard for a team that's up by 24+ points to maintain the intensity (see: Alabama vs Michigan).

I said it before and I still believe it; if Mett is accurate, LSU wins it all.

Edit: and yeah, I know what you mean about extreme fans. Everyone knows how I feel about a lot of the new Bama posters
