Pretty much.
A PC with Google Chrome or Firefox (w/ Adblock), a decent virus program (i.e. Malwarebytes/Avast/etc), and actually watching where you go on the interwebs = no viruses.

I have a Mac, and can't imagine using anything else. It's far superior for graphics work. I find it more intuitive and easy to use - there are fewer steps to things. I love how it organizes my music and photos. And I've never had a virus. I was a PC user for years, but now that I'm using a Mac, I don't see myself going back.

sms, I would get a PC over a Mac. What brand is up to you. My family has always had Dell. We got one HP and it was a POS (from what I hear that is common). I honestly don't know much about other brands. Toshiba and Samsung are both venturing into the PC world. I believe ASUS might also sell some prebuilt laptops (ASUS makes good parts, not sure about their computers). Brand probably isn't that important, just look around for what you want and what has a good price.

The boyfriend has a Mac with a metal bottom. I have a PC with a plastic bottom. We've both thrown them at least once. Him being once, me being like ten times. His metal Mac bottom is broken and my plastic PC bottom is in perfect shape.

I play vidja games. PC is far superior in that field. Mac is superior for graphic design and audio editing, etc.

My Dell crashed and hate my HP from work but it's 7 yrs old I bet. I just want something that will last and decent.
