Generally I think "conference pride" is stupid, and is reserved for teams that can't win games of their own.

That said. I am glad that LSU has had a strong start. Orgeron is fun, and his personality is good for college football. I've always respected LSU and would consider them my second favorite SEC team if such a thing exists.

I expect LSU to dismantle Florida this week and set up a top 5 matchup that may end up being the marquee game of the season. Can't wait!

Hope you are right on Florida but I'm expecting a battle there. They are improving and have some talent. Never easy playing there and the last several games between these 2 have been down to the wire.

I expect LSU vs UF to be a close game with it being in The Swamp and the Tigers looking ahead to UGA.

But considering Tom Petty is a huge LSU fan, we should be good.

I agree. It's like how Publix hires mentally disabled people to bag groceries. It's good for everyone.

Georgia has been my favorite east opponent and team. Was at the '09 and '13 games, the fans were nothing but kind and classy, but equally passionate.

Not good for me when they forget to double bag the heavy stuff and it breaks on the way to the car.

I think there is some strange mutual respect/ admiration between LSU and Georgia. Similar programs, we don’t play often, and we are always rooting for each other to beat Florida, Auburn, etc.

The LSU/UGA alliance was pretty strong until all of the Chubb vs Fournette threads.

Then when Fournette went #4 overall as a JR, they switched it to Chubb vs Guice

I have conference pride and pull for all SEC teams in non conference games, and my school does all right. I am all about a good troll if they are funny, don't get me wrong. But when it one of ours vs arrogant yankees, west coast weirdos,Big 12 (who forgot about defense somewhere along the way)yet still tries to troll us, or ACC pretenders, then all I have to say is ESS EEE SEE, bitches, and point to the finals.

I understand that perspective. I always think of it from a recruiting standpoint though...it's always good if conference rivals are in turmoil, coaches in trouble, etc.

I want every other team in the SEC (especially Bama) to lose every game.

I only use it when being forced to talk football with fans from other conferences. The SEC is the best conference in essentially every aspect of college football. It really does just mean more to the fans down south. But to have it be your only thing to beat your chest about, you're correct, is dumb and for teams that can't win on their own. But frick those other conferences.

It was a big deal in the early 2000's when the Big 12 and USC had the top of mind in pollsters heads. 2004 AU got royally screwed and that was wrong.

Since then AU, LSU, Bama and Florida have won NCs; UGA almost did. We've had 2 all SEC finals for the NC. SEC has so much respect Conference pride is not a necessity anymore. In fact I wouldn't mind seeing programs like Bama and UGA slow down some.

I can’t wait to play Georgia and wish we play y’all more often. It’s always a great game for the most part when we play each other. Hopefully when we play it will be another great game!
