If they ever expand, it’ll be 6 teams at most, I think.

Clemson - SC
OU - Auburn
UGA - Wisconsin
Bama - OSU
Based on AP poll,
Would end the same as now

8 would be awesome but 6 would work. 5 P5 champs and highest ranked G5 team.
8 would be better as it would add 2 wildcard teams since realistically there will likely be 2 P5 teams better than the best G5 team

I agree, a big playoff will ruin the regular season.
The fixation on the playoffs has already slightly devalued the regular season.
A bigger playoff will MAJORLY devalue it.

Actually if you had just 8 conference champs, it would make the regular season more relevant than it is now.
There's really no reason to even have conferences now.

I think 6 is magic number and I like it.

It already is an eight game playoff. If Wisconsin had beaten Ohio State last night, they would have gotten in. The winner of the UGA/Auburn and Miami/Clemson games would have been in. Oklahoma was playing for a place in the CFB Playoff. You can also make a case that the Pac 12 Championship Game played a role in the CFB Playoff as well. If Stanford had won, Ohio State would have had a more compelling case to make the CFB Playoff. As it is, USC and Ohio State were both two loss conference champions with a 30+ point blowout loss and wins over the same number of ranked teams. USC winning that game made it a lot harder for Ohio State to make the CFB Playoff.

5 major conference champions and 1 at-large for whoever deserves it most.
It also rewards 1/2 with byes, I like it.

WIth all 5 conference champions making it, you would in effect have a 12 team playoff, because every conference championship game is a quarterfinal.

Since NFL Wild-Cards started in 1970 10 of the teams have advanced to the Super Bowl and 6 have won it.

These 8 teams would make for an awesome first weekend. Some would argue for UCF over USC but it's best for everyone if the PAC12 gets in. If anything, this years selection will further justify the expansion to 8 (maybe 6) because 2 teams from the same conference equals 2 conferences left out. It's coming...
Clemson
Oklahoma
Georgia
Alabama
OSU
Wisconsin
PSU
USC

This, teams would start resting starters late in the season and all the BS that I hate about the NFL.

Once they got a four team playoff you knew it was just a matter of time before the playoff went to eight. And once it goes to eight it is just a matter of time before it gets to its final number, 16.

How long do you think they can leave out the PAC and B1G before the trouble starts?
