... I wouldn't be surprised to see the SEC play the conference games but have all teams cancel all OOC games to allow for delaying the start of the season.

Spring football is already not happening at this point. You have to think there is a chance that summer workouts and the start of Fall practice could also be delayed. You have to give the athletes time to get in playing shape and you've got to give the programs enough time to prepare for the start of a new season.

If the SEC cancelled all OOC games, you could delay the start of the season until September 26.

Every team could play their regularly scheduled SEC games from 9/26 through the end of the season, and only six games would have to be moved:

*Georgia at Bama could be moved back one week and played on 9/26
*Vandy at Missouri could also be played on 9/26
*Auburn at Ole Miss could be played on 10/24
*Missouri at South Carolina could be played on 11/21
*Arkansas at Miss St. could also be played on 11/21
*Kentucky at Florida could be played on 11/28

That would allow all conference games to still be played but would give the SEC teams an extra 3 weeks to prepare for the season.

Hopefully it doesn't get to that point, but it is a possibility.

If they cancel all OOC games, those small programs will cease to exist because they won't have any revenue.

If they cancel the entire season, the result will be the same for those small programs.

I think there is a pretty decent chance that if games are played this season it will be in front of zero crowd in the stands. At that point, the major programs are also going to be taking a major financial hit, so at the very least they are going to want to make their TV $$$.

Many of the major programs are also financially stretched thin as they are all trying to out-build each other in the recruiting arms race. If no fans are allowed in the stadium, that's a huge hit to revenue.

It would be a shame, but at least we will have more time to discuss the greatest team in college football history, your 2019 LSU Tigers. Isn’t that delightful ?

It would be cancel the season or cancel nothing.

Get in playing shape?? They can do that at home if they really want to. As far as programs having enough time to prepare it wouldn't be the team/coaches that's what video-conferencing is for, it would be the supporting cast (stadium maintenance, concessions, etc).

See reply to first quote above.

If it gets to that point I believe football will be the last thing anyone is worried about. The Country/World will be in very bad shape if it gets to the point of cancelling college football in September.
