If SEC+ACC+Big 12 go on to play

...and they are the only leagues to do so, this will radically change College Athletics for decades to come. The other leagues will either fall apart or it will take decades to recover. They'll be hit from 3 sides:
1. Current players will start looking to transfer
If you are a sophomore at a school like Ohio State, are you going to stick around in hopes that your school and conference grow a pair and play next fall? Or do you look to transfer to the SEC/ACC/Big 12 to ensure you'll get a chance to play in 2021?
2. Future recruiting classes will fall apart
You don't think SEC coaches will be telling the top talent in Ohio, Michigan, and California that they'll likely not get to play next season if they go to a Big 10 or Pac 12 school? Come to the SEC where you're guaranteed to play.
3. Schools who don't play in 2021 will take a major financial hit
The SEC/ACC/Big 12 will recoup 75%+ of the money they would have normally received in a typical year. Most comes from TV revenue or bowl revenue. The leagues that don't play will have to drastically cut their recruiting budgets and their coaching budgets. You're going to see Head Coaches going from $4 million salaries down to $1 million, etc. Do you think the best coaches are going to flock to the PAC 12 or BIG 10 for lower salaries? Nope.
And then this all trickles down to Basketball, Baseball, and Women's sports.
I've always been concerned that CFB would eventually become a regional sport. Now I'm afraid all college athletics will become regional sports.
Michigan and Michigan State basketball will never be the same. USC baseball will never be the same. Stanford will likely cut half or more of its smaller sports.

I will never make fun of the Big 12 or ACC again if they join the SEC and play.

It appears no matter which direction that this goes- everything is going to be radically changed

Big 12 acc sec plus the big boys from other parts of the country could round out a better, more modern College Football structure.

Regarding transfers, there is nowhere they can go. Most programs run at or even over their scholly limits. So even if they wanted to transfer, there’s no viable place for them to go.

This is true for most of your average talent. But the likely starters at places like Ohio State or Penn State could play just about anywhere, and you've got to think schools will find a spot for them.

We would then be making our own rules anyway, raise the limit to 100 schollies.

I have raging clue for the possibility of super conferences this season.

According to the ticket in DFW the big 12 is expected to cancel the season.

IF the B1G and Pac cancel, all will cancel.
ETA There would be no bowl games. There would be no CFB Playoff. Fans won't be in the stands. Other than fan selfishness, why play?

How will scholarship even work. 85 hard limit? Do you double process kids going into next year? What happens when you cut a borderline kid that sat for covid.

I’m sure a large majority of players and coaches want to play as well
There’s also the whole economics thing

the only problem with that, the players don't make a dime. Look at what is going on in baseball. That isn't a contact sport. Imagine 110 kids in a locker room. I don't want to even think of the number of young men who would be infected with an outbreak.
ETA Universities wouldn't be making money on tix sales and concessions. Nobody will be in the stands.

Sure, sure
You also realize they’ve been practicing together already for a few weeks right?
ETA: More money will come in by playing than not playing at all obviously

ETA some Universities have publicly shut down things for two weeks. Per Finebaum, others have done it privately.

There must be a ton of player and coach deaths then!

That's not the point.
this is the issue

Studies have shown that the novel coronavirus is associated with heart damage and cardiac problems in some patients, and research published Monday in JAMA Cardiology suggest those issues could last for months after patients recover from Covid-19—sparking concern among cardiologists that the heart complications could be permanent.
You think the NFL got hit hard with concussion lawsuits? Conferences will be paying out in the billions down the road. Can college conferences afford that?

Who says?
US Cases have dropped almost 21% in just the last 15 days. For all we know, they could be down 90% by January. Why can't you play bowl games at that point?
And most bowl games are played in near-empty stadiums anyway. The point of bowl games is TV revenue. If you have two teams willing to play and a camera crew, you're fine.

So you think all of these players tweeting #LetUsPlay are doing it just for "fan selfishness" ?
Did it ever occur to you that if these kids are going to school in a classroom and participating in extra curriculars like any other normal college student, they are likely just as at-risk of getting COVID as they are if they were playing football? Maybe they love the sport they've worked so hard to play that this means everything to them. Not to mention athletic programs might completely fall apart financially and have to cut sports programs because of this.
How many inner city kids will now not have their only pathway to a college education destroyed because their sport was cut?

Seconded. As a matter of fact, the three conferences should agree to only play each other during the season going forward.
