One would imagine every single Bama fan would vote against him to try to keep a chance open he keeps coaching. BUT every Burn fan + all the other smaller schools and other SEC fans in the state would vote and campaign hard for him. It'd be pure gold for the SEC Network.

Not likely.
Bud Wilkinson, Oklahoma's greatest coach who won 14 conference titles, 3 NCs, and had a 47 game winning streak, retired and tried to go into politics, figuring his overwhelming popularity in the state would get him elected. He lost his senate race handily.

That depends on one thing. Is he a good Christian man?

Saban's too much of an a-hole to run for office. He wouldn't know what to do with bureaucrats.

Alabama schools have let us all down.

Tom Osborne had a decent political career.

No, you have to kiss too much arse to get elected in Alabama. Saban would piss off the woman, the blacks, the press and every other group that is looking for pandering from a candidate. He would be a great candidate, but PC is not his forte.

Either Saban or Barkley could win, IMO.

Walt Maddox, the very popular mayor of Tuscaloosa could very well win the governorship next year. He's a democrat.
Saban literally made him come to his office when his players were getting in trouble on the strip. It got resolved quickly.
