If OU joins, they'll be the closest conference opponent in Arkansas' history.

At only 3hrs 45 minutes between the towns, Arkansas has never had a conference foe that close before, even in the SWC.

Before joining the SEC, Arkansas played every single conference game with a school from Texas. The closest was SMU in Dallas.

Also, can you imagine, as a fan, every single time you played an away game, the officiating crew was entirely composed of people from the state of the school you are playing in?

That was Arkansas' in the SWC.

We are natural rivals. At least more than LSU and Mizzou. Our states are similar and our sports programs are better. Also we are both at our best when we recruit Texas hard. With two Texas schools in the conference then more exposure for us both.

The biggest difference between the two is Oklahoma has the worst drivers on the planet. So freaking slow and they take 15 minutes to decide to go at a green light.

I forgot about the roads, you need a Hummer to get in and out of that state in 1 piece.

OP is incorrect.

The closest conference opponent they have played is actually Oklahoma State.

Both Oklahoma State and Oklahoma were charter members of the SWC (formed 1915), as was Arkansas.

That also means they had conference opponents outside of Texas as well.

OP just way off on this one. Freaking whippersnapper. Get off my lawn!

Maybe one day you will have a team that consider you their main rival, but if Oklahoma comes, that will still not be the day.

Oklahoma/Arkansas should have a rivalry trophy with Donald W. Reynolds’ name involved.

Arkansas got screwed by the outbreak of The Great War and the Spanish Flu pandemic. Otherwise we'd have boat-raced those orange and black bastards in the mid 1910s.

Arky still leads the series 30-15-1.
