If not for "the Shoe", would the Gators have snagged the 4th playoff spot

given how well they played against Bama? Gators showed some grit and played an outstanding game imo. I think they just might've backed in to the 4th seed.

Nope, just like we didn’t in 2018

If not for Kirby Smart... ahhhhhh what's the use, LOL.

I think the gators overall play at the end of the season was better than when they lost to A&M. That’s the only thing that should matter when looking at the best 4 teams.

No...because “ND” and “OSU” “B1G”
Fix was in.
Fix was in.

It would have been very interesting. And would have added one more pissed off fan base to the mix.

I dont think ESPN would of wanted Florida over Notre Dame - I mean lets face it - Notre Dame and Ohio State are there for more TV Viewers.
The National Championship was won on Saturday Night 19 Dec 2020.
With that said - Florida would of had a heck of an argument but no more than aTm.
IMHO once Ohio State won the Big 10 - there was no way anyone new was getting in.
It either would of been
Alabama
Clemson
Ohio State
Notre Dame
or
Clemson
Ohio State
Notre Dame
Alabama

If a 2 loss team that Aggy beat went over them, the Ags would’ve shot themselves. ND would’ve gone nuclear too.

No. Same goes for A&M. Why reward teams that struggled with LSU? Win or lose.

Florida was never a "shoe-in", even if it had beaten LSU.

I am guessing this is a troll thread, but to answer it honestly? yes, I think they would go to the playoffs. Losing to LSU stuck in the committees craw. Had they beaten LSU, they would have gone to the playoffs and ND would have stayed home.

No we lost to A&M only shot we had was winning the SEC

Nope, and we'd have nothing to complain about. After losing to A&M, we had to be perfect.

If Florida hadn’t lost to LSU this would have been a play in game. As such it was just an anomaly where a lesser sec East team had a chance to win a mostly meaningless conference championship game and nothing more.

I get that....but you would have had two very close losses. One to a playoff team and the other a top5 team. ND, on the other hand had a horrible loss in their last game.
I mean, it is all conjecture and guessing, but I think, as close as Florida got, the win against LSU would have been wiped away and you would have gone.
ETA
A&M finished 5th with a bad loss to Alabama....

The committee already showed they consider H2H in highest regard.
They wouldn't move UF below Georgia, and they weren't going to move UF above A&M.
UF essentially was out of the playoffs once they lost to LSU; the conference title was the only thing that would've allowed UF to move ahead of A&M (if UF only had 1 loss).
