They would be undefeated with wins over a Top 10 Penn State and a Top 20 Iowa. There would be a very good argument for them being in the top 4.

Idk where they'd end up but it doesn't really matter. If they win out they're 10000% in.

No. They wont be allowed in tCFP, not valuable enough.

What if they go undefeated in the regular season and lose a close game to Ohio State in the Big10 Championship. They would have wins over Penn State, Iowa and Wisconsin with a loss to #1/#2 Ohio State. I don't see how they wouldn't be ranked higher than almost every other 1 loss team.

There are hundreds of games until then. Just let it play out.

that's not winning out lol. And in that case no they would not make it.

because other 1 loss teams would have won their conference

Thanks Mr. Stick in the mud. We're not the selection committee, we're a message board. Isn't one of the main reasons to have a fan message board to talk about 'what ifs' and hypothesize about future events?

They are obviously in undefeated; the more interesting question is what happens if their only L is in the Championship to Ohio State in a competitive game? They would be 12-1 with at least 3 ranked wins.

Wait....so you're saying if they lose a game that's not winning out? Really? I was creating a different, yet still compelling scenario for a Minnesota claim to the top 4.

Maybe true, but the committee will certainly take into account that they lost to #1 Ohio State and beat a slew of top 20 teams. This resume would be vastly superior to a 1 loss Oregon/Utah and a 1 loss Oklahoma.

We have precedent with this in 2015 with Iowa. Undefeated and in the top 4 playing the big10champ against a 1 loss MSU. MSU won and went to the playoffs, Iowa finished 5th.

Not to mention only 2 of 20 playoff teams has gotten in without winning their conference, both times because other P5 champs had 2 losses. So no Minnesota would almost surely be out with a loss.

you don't realize how much important the committee places on winning your conference. That's massively important to them.

If they beat Iowa and remain unbeaten they should jump every one loss team.

Undefeated with back to back quality wins should get them to 4. Weather they stay there after Wisconsin is another story.

They should probably jump Georgia. Hate to say that but if we're going based on "deserve", then yes they should jump Georgia. Sorry Georgia fans.
