Kentucky is a basketball brand. LSU isn't there yet. Look at the favorable treatment LSU football got this year over Kentucky's football team in the polls. It's the same thing, just different sports.

Thankfully basketball people can discern the difference between the UK team that got drubbed in the first game of the season and the one that handily beat #1 Tennessee on Saturday.

Well then they should be able to distinguish the LSU team that got beat by OkState, and the one that beat #5 Kentucky at Rupp. This argument works both ways
