We'll leave it for RoadGator.

Okay, if it's per subscriber then why would Florida State be bad for the SEC?
Because the fees are usually per existing cable subscriber, regardless of whether the subscriber is a Gator fan, Nole fan, or hates football. So adding a team in an existing footprint adds nothing, but adding a team in a new area adds subscriber fees.

Exactly, you want to expand the SEC brand to new territory

I want them in. It would be perfect for UF, so I don't see why we don't want them in.
The two main reasons UF doesn't want FSU in the SEC:
1- Money
They already suck off the state of Florida's tit so it won't be any different there. Money doesn't give UF a competitive advantage because FSU will fire teachers before they hurt the football program.
2- Recruiting advantage
Have you seen some of the classes they haul in? They always have good classes and it would be negligible if they joined the SEC.
Positives for UF:
1- We wouldn't have to schedule them as a non conference team every year.
2- They would get beat on by SEC teams every week and be a lot softer when we played them (assuming we would keep them on Turkey weekend).
3- They would be a pain in the arse for other SEC teams (not just UF)
4- They may never win another conference title ever.
Screw them, they will never be equal to UF, lets those dorkweeds in I say!

VT and NCST

All of this expansion is dumb. Who the hell wants a 16 team conference

FSU fits like a hand in a glove with the SEC. Florida needs to suck it up and welcome the 'Noles for the good of the conference.
They had their chance (twice) and pussied out. frick 'em.

That's why Mizzou won over West Virginia--new territory with larger markets. And that's why A&M was so attractive-added DFW and Houston (plus chunks of San Antonio, Austin, and several other markets).

n the SEC, we like the Sugar Bowl.
Or the Sugar Bowl, whatever the ACC wants to be as the permanent semi-final to match the Rose Bowl, where the other 3(Sugar, Fiesta and Cotton) can rotate as the National Champs.
I mean. It's whatever. It is just what I think will happen when the 4 team tourney becomes and 8 team, that the Rose Bowl will be a semi-final. I just want the SEC to mitigate some of that influence. Slive needs some precognitive abilities.

FSU has been dead for about a decade now, who cares?

I don't really think so. If FSU actually goes to the Big 12 (which would be a terrible move IMO), the state of Florida will be even more dominated by UF if anything. If the SEC expands to 16, it will make far more sense to expand into Virginia/North Carolina and tap new markets instead of markets UF already has a large hand in within Florida.
Also, to those saying the Carolina schools will never leave the ACC and whatnot: if FSU + another ACC school actually jump ship for the Big 12, I can't imagine the SEC and/or Big 10 will be able to resist the urge to take the rest of the decent football schools while the ACC is so vulnerable. If that happened, why would the Carolina schools want to stay in a totally depleted ACC?

FSU can't fill their stadium even when good, and the marketshare they command in Florida (from what I've heard) vs. UF is more akin to UK-UL than A&M-UTA.
They sold their tier 3 football rights last year to sun sports for a grand total of... wait for it.....
$350,000.

If (unlikely though) FSU and Clemson jump ship with two other teams (say Miami and GT), then I can easily see the B1G inviting UVA, UNC, and MD (maybe also Duke for the basketball rivalry). At this point VT and NCST suddenly become available and the SEC grabs them (but I don't see how VT and NCST could make the first move, the PTB will not allow UVA and UNC to be saddled in a dying ACC).

Except NCSU and UNC share a board of regents and are for all points and purposes two branches of the same school. I can't envision a scenario where their BOR says a-ok to them splitting.
And UNC/Duke run that conference. No way they are leaving as long as they have 10+.

I could see the SEC pissing off the Big XII again by taking FSU and Clemson

It could happen if (big IF) the ACC started to break up and UNC was courted by the B1G. If the SEC wanted NCSU, they would split them in a heartbeat in that scenario. The landscape is changing. I don't think the ACC is going to break up, but if it started to then UNC to B1G and NCSU to SEC would be landing everyone on their feet.
I personally like the idea of NCSU in the SEC. It is a good fit. Feels similar to USC when they came in to the conference. It has only made them better and I think the same would happen to NC State.

no necessarily...In my mind I've always believed that if your not in the SEC; they don't give a shite. Although BIG 12 > ACC which would individually hurt Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina recruiting

None of this matters as long as we expand our cable subscriber territory and keep winning championships. FSU can do whatever they want, it's starting to get to the point that the SEC is what people think of when the think of college football. Very few people argue about how good the SEC is compared to the rest of the country anymore.

potentially a gained opportunity - if the ACC weakens and the SEC adds a couple schools from NC, VA, and Maryland they will add major population states and more money to the SEC pie
This is what I see also. Supposedly there is a gentleman's agreement between Slive and Swofford. Slive has already stated he wants to expand east at next opportunity, if ACC falters, VT, UVA or Carolina schools would be fair game.
