Would it be a lost opportunity for the SEC? I know the SEC isn't interested in adding schools from existing member States. But, FSU would be a big catch for the Big 12.

It would be like the Big 12 saying, "You expanded into our prime recruiting area in Texas, now we're expanding into your prime recruiting area of Florida."

That is actually a legitimate viewpoint.

So how would it be different from them being an ACC member now?

The SEC should throw Mizzou out and take FSU

The Big 12 is a stronger football conference than the ACC already. I think he's saying it would present more of a challenge to the SEC superiority

I thought he meant competing for recruits. In that case, I'm not so sure it would benefit FSU/Big 12.

Like a recent article said, for a conference on life support a mere 12 months ago, FSU would be a HUGE addition.

Another question is:

If the SEC isn't interested in adding schools from existing member States, who could be the next two schools in future expansion?

potentially a gained opportunity - if the ACC weakens and the SEC adds a couple schools from NC, VA, and Maryland they will add major population states and more money to the SEC pie

I don't know why people want FSU so badly. The entire state of FL is already SEC territory and FSU does not fill up their stadium even when they're good.

They aren't going to the Big 12. This is an attempt to get more money from the ACC.

We'd have to guarantee that they wouldn't have to play Alabama and Auburn in the same year again wouldn't we???

I guess the Big 12 is going to have to agree not to put OK and UT on their schedule in the same year or FSU will

FSU fits like a hand in a glove with the SEC. Florida needs to suck it up and welcome the 'Noles for the good of the conference.

No, why get #2 when you can get #1 elsewhere?

Lets say you could get only 1 of the 2

a) Oklahoma
b) Florida State

Who would you take?

Yeah I don't see any of the Oklahoma or Texas schools being a big factor in FL recruiting ever outside of the random big prospect that considers UT or OU. I think it would help West Virginia some (a game against FSU every year would get recruits attention much more than that game against USF) and it would help the North schools that don't have a home recruiting base get some of the Florida scrap recruits.

FSU would obviously be a big get for the Big 12 though as far as making it a stronger overall FB conference.
