If a SEC team is 5-0 or 4-1 on oct 24, will they rank a 1-0 OSU above them?

Will be interesting

There is no way the ACC, Big 12, and SEC allows Ohio State into the College Football Playoff if they only manage to play one game. The P5 conferences control the playoff, not the NCAA.

B1G fricked themselves, now they finna try and frick up the postseason for the rest of us.
Get ready for non-stop controversy when they demand to be included.

I don't know about playoffs but it will be interesting to see how polls react to the sudden injection of a conference mid-season.

Supposed to have 8 games and B1G championship before playoff teams are selected

The SEC champ will get in regardless so I'm not worried about that. If the 2nd best SEC team is a 9-1 team that misses the SEC title game vs a 9-0 Big Ten title winner, I doubt playing one extra game is going to put the 2nd SEC team in over them.
I would strongly suspect that you will have the champion from the SEC, ACC, B10, and B12 in the playoff and I am fine with that. This will be the 4 conference, 3 round, 8 team playoff we have always wanted with each conference playing a title game as the 1st round. The Pac 12 is making it easy by bowing out. Hopefully this causes the Pac 12 to collapse with the Big 12 absorbing half their members to form a 16 team superconference, and we get this 8 team playoff permanently.

They will play a shorter season and later start date, but media will push for them to represented in CFP

As long as they play 8 conference games and a title game, I have no issue with them having a fair shot to make the playoffs. The timing of their season is irrelevant as long as the games get played before the playoff selection. The more legitimate the playoffs are this year, the less of an asterisk the eventual title winner will have. In a normal year, conferences only play 8 or 9 conference games anyways. All we have done is take out the crappy nonconference rent-a-wins which have virtually no impact on any team actually contending for the playoffs.

If they’re playing only 8 games I don’t think it’s fair to even consider them for a playoff spot over a team from any conference who is playing more games than they are.

Absolutely agree. 2 fewer games mean they have two fewer chances to get banged up or severe injuries. I don't care how bad the teams they play are, an injury can still occur. If teams are going to play a different number of games, you might as well just go by preseason standings for the playoffs.
How many times has a really good team been beaten by weak teams? Clemson (Syracuse, Pittsburgh) Alabama (ULL) Georgia (South Carolina) LSU (Troy) Auburn (Tennessee)
If they play two fewer games it is two fewer time for them to possibly lose.

Well Florida did jump 3 spots this week after they scrimmaged themselves so tOSU will probably jump everyone after one game.

I think the SEC gets 2 playoff teams regardless. If the B1G is involved in the CFP, then that takes a seat away from the 12.

depends what that 1-0 game is.
if its Ohio st over Penn st or Penn st over Ohio St, Id rank that over say, Vanderbiltbeing 4-1 having beaten A&M in triple OT and then getting smoked by LSU (or vice versa, just to annoy all yall) and then 3 wins over USC, Mizzou, and Ole Miss. No, I still wouldn't think that team was better than Ohiost/Penn st.
now playoff committee has a different criteria than the polls, and if the committee wants to keep integrity they would need to rank teams with significantly more games played over teams without unless the results were overwhelmingly indicative of something else.
If Ohio State ends the year 4-0 and Auburn is 9-1, there shouldnt even be a debate.

They actually lost to ULM a much lesser opponent.

If Kentucky is 5-0, they would have beaten Auburn, Ole Miss, Miss State, Tennessee and Georgia. I imagine they'd be above Ohio State at 1-0.

They should have started by 1st of oct.

Probably. Except for a Bama

I can already picture Kirk Herbstreit crying on set about how it's unfair that Ohio State is not ranked higher despite being undefeated.
