Has Saban ever had back to back “rebuilding” years?

Rebuilding years don’t have to be bad, we are in a rebuilding year

That was only half a championship, you gotta win the SEC and win the natty to get a full one.

Also, UGA now has a claim to the 2017 title. This is fun!

Read this on target post by phil4bama on the Bama board.

No more whistling past the graveyard

Alabama game management is awful.

2008 was his best coaching job, hands down. Making it to the SEC title game, with a net yet stacked roster and giving Florida a run for their money, in year 2, was amazing.

This year is certainly a low water mark for coached teams. Other years like 2007, 2010 and 2014 had specific issues. 2010 the team was very, very young. Insanely talented, but it all didn't click yet. 2014, was a depleted roster and lots of injuries on top of it.

You kind of answered your own question

penalties, sloppy play and lack of discipline

It comes back to the coordinators and a team that doesn't seem to have any sense of urgency, excitement, leadership or killer instinct. I guess we could just say that they are soft. And ultimately that comes from the coaching staff.

Last year truly was a rebuilding year. This year is Saban letting 2 morons ruin his offense and defense and a failed new philosophy in the S&C program finally showing up

2010 was pretty bad. That team was stacked with talent and were the defending national champs with the defending Heisman trophy winner. Them losing 3 regular season games was inexcusable

without question. Having an undefeated regular season with a Mike Shula team and John Parker Wilson as QB was amazing.

Another problem is he filled one big hole of last year's team, running back, and created another, the lack of having any true #1 wide receivers and really just a collection of role player receivers. They were thin in that department last year too, but still had Metchie and Williams up until the very end when those two got hurt.

The Alabama OL and DL just aren't up to Alabama standards this year either. It's crazy looking back at how people were saying pre-season that this might be Saban's best team yet. If Alabama doesn't have Gibbs, there's no telling how many games they could lose. IMO he's the most important player on the team this year

Tuscaloosa ensured SECRant that S&C is nothing more than a PE coach and Alabama had upgraded from Cochran leaving.
