In an earlier thread, I looked at stats alone to rebuke a claim that #99 for Georgia was the best DL in the country. As I had not watched much Georgia football this year, I went on those numbers alone to make my assumption.

I was quickly rebuked. A LOT.

So I decided to go watch some highlights, read some articles, and I fully admit I was wrong. Jordan Davis is absurdly good. He definitely reminds me of Terrance Cody, SPECIFICALLY in that a lot of offenses went to a LOT of trouble to ensure they ran away from him or put at least 2 guys on him nearly every play.

Man is going to be blowing up offenses on Sundays soon as well.

So, here's me eating my crow Georgia fans. You've got an amazing talent on that DL.

What is scary to me is how freaking fast that guy is.

Big men should not be that fast.

Jordan Davis is so much better than Terrence Cody. He is insulted at the comparison, and so am I.

After seeing him run down that QB and then that RB, that is freaking crazy

It feels like there's got to be some cheating, and no I don't mean steriods.

More like the dude has a cybernetic endoskeleton powered by a fusion core.

He may be dry-humping Bo Nix up and down the field Saturday.

Cody was a monster in college. He just was too big and slow for the pros.

As I recall he was a big overweight kid in high school that a lot of teams did not recruit all that much.

In my opinion, Davis is the best 0-tech defensive tackle prospects since Vince Wilfork.

If he keeps his health, he ought to have a very similar career to Vince and be the centerpiece of a great defense for a decade.

He actually put on weight at UGA (though I presume it's pretty much all muscle), as I think he's increased by 20lbs from his freshman to senior weight.

It goes to show you can't rely on recruiting star power alone. Davis I believe was three stars along with Auburns freshman RB Hunter. Both have played very well

Feel like Cody caught the tail end of his viability in college and went pro into a league that had embraced the quick pass over the interior run for on-schedule yardage due to the defensive holding changes in the mid to late aughts.

The ideal 0-tech DT these days in the NFL is a guy who could play a little 3-tech too like Vita Vea.

Yep. Aaron Donald, Vita Vea, Quinnen Williams are perfect type DTs.

Not when Cody was at Bama. He blew up to around 400 lbs after be left Tuscaloosa. Hell, the guy blocked TWO field goal attempts against Tennessee one game that preserved their nat'l championship.
Davis is a monster, no doubt, but so was Cody in college.

Yeah, I am not sure it is even legal to have a living transformer as your NT.

I believe he visited stone mountain this past summer, and it flinched when Jordan was coming.

Jordan Davis would be on Bama's roster if Kirby Smart were still DC at Bama. In fact, many of the super players UGA has on defense now would be at Alabama. It was inevitable Kirby at Georgia would pull many of those top tier guys to Georgia. Alabama has some good players but down by the standards of years past. Where did they go? Look at Georgia..there they are.
