I think the AAF will be huge in 3-5 years.
The reason I say so is this, think of all of the guys that just barely miss the draft and are never signed. There’s a lot of really good players that we don’t see in the NFL. Right now the AAF is older ex-NFL guys, but in the next few years it will be full of potential 23-25 year old potential NFL players.

Also, it will be huge in Alabama especially as we don’t have a pro team of any sort. The Birmingham Iron will be selling out soon. They looked pretty dominant on defense.

Maybe. These are players that couldn't cut it in the NFL.

Probably will not be more then a professional minor league for the NFL.

They are in no way a rival to the NFL.

The fact that the TV producers took it so seriously is why its going to succeed.

The production was really well done.

I liked it a lot.

I watched all four games, and enjoyed them all for different reasons. It's just more football, and I enjoy the fresh rule changes.

Sound logic... IF it survives that long.

I liked being able to see and hear the replay official in the booth. It was refreshing to not hear him say, "well it looks like Birmingham could really use a first down here, so let's give it to them."

Or everyone will forget about it in 4 weeks.

Who knows.

I hope not, why would it fall off so quickly?

Are any of you old enough to remember the United States Football League? It was a spring league started in early '80s. do any of you remember the World Football League, I think that was the name of it? It played out before the USFL, I believe.

They both are now answers to trivia questions.

I recall a ton of sub leagues, scrambling for an identity, but I'm not old enough to remember much more. I think the AAF has found their identity, and built a solid staff. Only time can tell, if this will last longer than the rest that have failed in such similar fashion.

They seem to have found a niche or opening here with this league the the USFL and WFL did not have. People are hungry for football and the NFL has turned a lot of people off. From kneeling to long games to roughing the QB the NFL has turned some people off. The XFL never seemed to take itself seriously. The AAF seems to be taking it seriously. Not to mention the teams right now are owned by the league itself so they don't have owners to frick it up.

Not to mention WJOX here in Birmingham has been discussing it all morning and people are calling in and seem very happy with the product and rule changes.

Will there be enough $$ generated for the AAF for sustain itself, since the teams are owned by the league?

a lot of things were great, no kick off was awesome, just rolling right into the offense immediately after a punt was fantastic.

I think the most comparable product is NFL Europe which the NFL basically used as a minor league. It featured both young guys trying to break into the league and older guys, including the occasional big name, trying to make a comeback. Three Super Bowl quarterbacks, including Kurt Warner, played in the league. I loved the product but most people never took it seriously. Hopefully that will be different with the AAF. Being located in America has to help.

As long as the production quality is taken seriously the league should succeed.

By week 4 the lines will gel and we will actually have some offense.

Problem with the XFL was the announcers didnt take it seriously.

During the games this weekend all you heard was about what was happening on the field.
