WTF has your baseball team done?

Fact the all time SEC Hits leader Jake Mangum was committed to Alabama and flipped to Mississippi State. Why? Because he can actually win at MSU.

During his time at MSU:

1 SEC Championship
4 Super Regionals
4 different Head coaches
2 College World Series Appearances(and Mangum is still playing in his 2nd appearance)

Let's compare this to Alabama:

3 losing seasons
0 Regional Appearances

Now I see why you guys pretend to not care and shite on everyone that does. You guys are one of the worst baseball programs in the country

I will say their coach will have them back to 16 conference wins a season soon. He knows what he’s doing. But fans of a school who only like one sport are retarded.

See, from my end - people who give a frick about what other people like are the ones that are retarded.

I'll admit I don't care about Gymnastics (mainly because MSU doesn't have a team). But I'm not out here yapping about how terrible of a sport it is.

I'm willing to follow softball even tho our team is the worst in the SEC(one of the few State fans that do I know). But I love it cause my school plays it. I know a lot of people on here follow it more in depth than I do.

I've gotten a lot more into Women's Basketball since State started winning. But honestly I think the same can be said for the people that follow Gymnastics and Softball. And I understand that. Winning is fun and we dominate in the SEC these sports as well.

I just don't get how you could a hate a sport your school plays in if you actually like your school.

Agreed 100%. How can someone be an alabama fan but not actively pull for Alabama in march or june if they were good enough to make it?

It's got to be so boring too to only follow sports from September to maybe the 1st of January if Alabama makes the National Championship Game.

But I live in Alabama and that's how it is here. Auburn's in the Super Regionals and the Sports Talk Radio People can't stop yapping about college football off season. Its unreal.

Stepping into MS and seeing the passion for this sport rn is a breath of fresh air. And that's a credit to everyone here.

Same goes for the state of Arkansas and Louisiana. I've been lucky to see State play in those stadiums that past 4 years and let me say those are unique atmospheres for this sport. Y'all should be proud.

I didn't think this year's Super Regional could get more memorable than the epic games in Nashville last year that I was at, but that 9th inning topped everything.

I've never seen a MSU team more ready to win than this one. Let's win some more!

Because it's boring as frick. I hope Alabama wins in what they do, but the only interest I have in Alabama baseball stops after the word Alabama.

I don't watch any baseball. I quit playing and watching it back in the early 90's. If Alabama baseball is on TV, I'll watch and keep track. But it ain't got shite to do with baseball, as I said, the interest stops after the word Alabama.

Speaking of which, as an older frick, most of this stuff didn't really even exist very much when I was younger. It was hard enough getting to see a football game on TV, much less a baseball game. Even in the 90's it was hard to get Alabama games while I was in the military unless they were broadcast nationally.

I knew they had it, a friend's brother was a pitcher for Alabama, but the internet and all this TV time simply didn't exist. People who watched baseball back then watched the Braves on TBS. The only person I knew who followed Alabama baseball did it with newspapers.

What kind of weird hoodoo bullshite makes you think you need to like a sport just because the school plays it? I guess maybe I'm selfish, but if I don't enjoy it...I'm not going to do it.

Ummm...most of us care about baseball to a certain degree, hopefully Bama can turn it around. Baseball is a niche sport at best these days with declining popularity, whether you're successful or not. We just think it's hilarious how some on here are trying to play up baseball as if people care about it 365 days even when they are successful given the chit we get for being passionate about football. You remove any football discussion from this website and it dies. Casual fans of their universities would struggle to name 4 or 5 baseball players on their teams. Let's call it what it is.

I wouldn't go as far as to say it's growing. But "improving" I'll go with.

I'm very unique I'm sure in the sense that my #1 sport period is Soccer. But that's because that's the only sport I played competively. Let me say there are some people standing in the way from making it the major player it's about to be. But it's almost inevitable at this point that it takes over. And I'm ok with it. I'd just love for SEC Schools to adopt Men's Soccer because that would be my favorite sport to follow.

I'd hope they do well in baseball, but I'm not going to watch it or follow their progress.

What the fvck is this nonsense? Alabama had been better than Mississippi State at basketball for basically the entire last decade outside of 2019, and even that year was close to a toss up and a year in which we split the 2 game series.

And on top of that, Alabama fans showed up at our basketball games last year more than State fans did, which is weird considering we apparently had nothing to cheer for in that sport while State did. Your fanbase must suck arse.

You folks are seriously off the reservation with some of this shite.

Just admit you are really just talking about college baseball. Alabama sucks at college baseball and has for the last 4 seasons, much like Mississippi State did in football for 75 years and did in basketball for roughly a decade.

This whole "Alabama has nothing to cheer for after football ends" from schools who we have routinely been better than in basketball (and a whole host of non "Big 3" sports) for basically the last 20 years (or longer) is laughable.

If college sports is the only thing in your life, then yeah, I suppose it would be pretty boring. I support all of our sports, but my life also doesn't revolve around sports.

If Alabama had a good baseball team that made it to the post season, then things might be different? The Alabama shite talk stems from LSU fans celebrating Clemsons victory over Alabama in football as if it was their own teams victory, when their team got spanked by Alabama. Let's not try to make it more than what it is, bud.

I’ve seen this argument thrown out there before. Did all other sports in the world disappear because I’m pretty sure within the last 10 days I’ve watched the NBA finals, NHL finals, French Open, and UEFA ChampionsLeague final.

Didn't give a frick about baseball when i was an athlete at bama... which was the late 90s. I believe we finished 2nd one year and made the cws 3 of 4 years. Our success or recent lack thereof has 0 bearing on my thoughts about the sport. I just think it's a watered down version of a sport that interests me none. The 93 or 94 strike can be thanked for most of this sentiment.
