So they were meaningful before they were "ultimately meaningless"? Or do you not know what ultimately means? By the way, I know you know what it means.

That was right before I took a hiatus from the site so I didn't get to do my rankings that season. I will probably do them again this year. I may even expand beyond running back.

Do you think it will offend anyone if Cameron Artis Payne and Tre Mason make the preseason top 5?

Unlikely. Not enough DawgTards to cause a big stink.

I am torn on Miles as a head coach, his record screams good head coach but when I think of the blunders he has made and escaped with I don't think he could do that at any other university and get away with it. I know LSU fans talk about him beating Oklahoma but to be honest OK State is a better program now than they were under him. He certainly ha to be a top five sec head coach but if you compare other coaches in the sec schools and have them swap places how successful would each be at that school. MILES IS certainly an enigma. He just seems to make really bad decisions that cost LSU games and without great coordinators like Chavis he ha struggled. He is an offensive coach but consistently fields one of the worst offenses in cfb. If LSU is lights out on offense this year you know it will be due to a Cam Cameron.

SABAN
SPURRIER
SUMLIN
MILES
RICHT

Poor W/L record comparatively but should be above the Bus and .500 regular season.

I should hope so. He took them out of a dreadful period that extended from their probation in 1989 all the way until he arrived. From 1989-2000, they had one winning season. The rest of your post is the recycled trash that appears in any critique of Miles that is debunked.

He has had his share of blunders. Go and check out Saban's blunder in the 2005 Cap One Bowl. His blunder was worse because LSU loss, but Kirk Ferentz tried his best to frick up the end of that game. He left timeouts on the table in a game where he need a hail mary at the gun to win.

Jones is vastly overrated - I would put him around number 22 in the conference

So every game is actually a blow out because the points the losing team scores are meaningless? If Bama loses that game by 20 ponts they fall too far to get back in the top two. Those points were far from meaningless. Maybe meaningless to the outcome of that game, but far from meaningless to Bama's season.

Alabama is the only team in the country with fans who can't admit that the points it scored in a game it lost were ultimately meaningless.

Miles is like Brian Billick when he was at the Ravens. An offensive coach that hasn't had good offenses, but always has a badass defense. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, they both have one ring.

LSU fans are the only fans in the country who think how you lose is "always" meaningless.

The problem with listing SEC coaches is that the strength of the conference is such that what was done outside it doesn't mean a whole lot does it? The only ones who have really been through thick and thin are Saban/Spurrier/Richt and Miles, with Saban being the most successful. The rest are pretty much newbies here save maybe Mullen. Seems like keeping their job (in SEC) for more than 5 years is an accomplishment in itself.
