Does anyone feel like there’s not that much animosity anymore? I remember back a few years after Saban got to Alabama there were so many things that were controversial and were incredibly meme worthy and worth discussing for years. Maybe the instant replay rules and illegal hit penalties changed things up too much. I don’t know. But it seemed like from about 2008-2014, every time the big 6 would play eachother in or cross division, there would be a big headline. Whether it involved the replay officials, the hires and fires or the players outshining the program (Manziel, Newton etc.). Some of Freek’s best material came from around then, too.

Not enough stuff like Patrick Peterson’s lost interception or 4th and 25 happen anymore it seems like. Idk. Maybe it’s just nostalgia for me. Even though Alabama is winning more, which I certainly enjoy don’t get me wrong, it does feel a bit….bland at times. I guess SEC basketball now is what football used to feel like for me if I had to compare it to something?

That’s what happens when you let gays like A&M into the conference. They award trophies for participation, competition loses intensity.

It's nostalgia. You need to let your guard down a little in adulthood and let the hate flow through you again this season.

Alabama has been so dominant, and everything has become so “championship or bust” that most games feel like they either have no stakes or are pointless because the results aren’t in doubt because Alabama is gonna win.

To be the best, you’ve got to beat the best. LSU and now Georgia have broken through, so things could be starting to change.

Is this your attempt at original thought?

If you’re trying to belittle “Aggie” please come up with something better than “A&M is gay”… it’s sophomoric at best and more likely elementary!

Hell, Don Lemon is LSU’s most public graduate. He’s probably given every dude on LSU’s campus a Dirty Sanchez.

Id say to “Put that in your pipe and smoke it”… but, you’re probably smoking some dudes pipe.

Yeah. A decade of the same few teams competing for the title over and over and over again every year will do that.

Bama
Clemson
Ohio State
UGA
Oklahoma

We start every season knowing that at least 3 playoff spots will go to teams on that list, and unless something crazy happens there's a good chance the 4th will too. Boring AF.

Very well stated. You gotta ride the Tide while you can.

Unfortunately, a high tide doesn’t lift all boats in the SEC

Maybe it's just me, but Shaq seems infinitely more relevant than Don Lemon.

Hell, Lauren Daigle is infinitely more relevant than Don Lemon.

I really miss what I perceive to be the era before the attitude was all or nothing, at least for the big 6 schools. So 90s, early 00s.

No offense to Arky and Ole Miss, who will be big games for AU this year and could well beat us, but the reality is that I'm simply relieved when we win those games, I'm not amped up for them or excited when we win them. When I was a kid it seemed every SEC game was an event, and I think that has waned.

Maybe it was always like that for adult fans and it was just the product of being a kid, idk. However, I do think it's objectively true that the emphasis on getting to a Jan 1 bowl game, etc. was a much bigger deal in the past for AU, LSU, etc. Now if you get to the Orange Bowl and you're playing Cincy, a lot of the big SEC schools look at as survive and build on it next year.

I think expansion 2.0 screwed things up.

The conference at 12 was neat and relatively compact. It was logical and easy to follow. 6 vs 6.

Now, as an old person, I hate everything.
