I have no issue with the transfer portal but scholarship limits need to go away.

The limits were set to protect kids from being recruited just to bury them on a depth chart. All kids can transfer now so there is no reason to eliminate the amount that can be signed or the amount you have on campus.

Scholarship limits were enacted to keep 2-3 schools from hoarding all the talent. They're working like a charm aren't they.

No, the limits were imposed so smaller schools at least had a chance. With no limits you could have the Top 5 schools taking 75% or more of the Top 200 players. Even with the limits in place you have almost 50% of the Top 100 going to 3 schools.

bama’s stranglehold on CFB is disappearing and you can see the panic.
Portal is doing some damage to alabama. On top of that NIL means they can’t pay the most any longer.

Bad idea...Texas used to do that. They would tie up players just to prevent other teams from having a chance at them.

I think it still kind of protects them though doesn’t it? Keeps a coach from coming in and saying all you losers are gone.
Definitely needs to be a max limit though.

scholarship limits doesn't even address all the biggest problems with the portal coupled with NIL and free agency. It honestly barely scratches the surface. I do agree that there need to be changes made to how large classes can be but the total number of scholarship players on a team does not need to change. They need to allow teams to replace however many people they lose to transfer and not cap that number at 7

I believe teams should be able to sign as many as needed to maintain 85 on scholarships, ie if they lose 35 to graduation, transfer portal, injury, ect. They should be able to sign/bring in 35 to maintain 85 on ship.

If our "disappearing stranglehold" equates to SEC Champs and national runners-up this year followed by odds-on favorites to win the whole thing next year then yeah, I am, uh, panicking. For sure. Help! Help!

Enjoy the talent advantage while it lasts for another year.
A&M’s bringing in 7 of the 247sports top 20 recruits for the 2022 class.
alabama’s bringing in 1.

For that to happen, football would have to be exempt from "Title IX equality".
If you take away scholarship limits, you risk having to kill more mens' sports teams under the current structure.

And yet Alabama's per-recruit average is higher this class than A&M's. Hmmm. Plus, given a choice between the two, I'll pick Nick Saban over Jimbo Fisher in the "coaching 'em up" sweepstakes. But you go ahead and continue to imagine we are panicking. Anything to help alleviate your crippling Bamaphobia.

Clockwork
We demoralized the aggies so bad with that shite that they straight up don't want it anymore even though they're a school that would benefit

No one in their right mind would pick 1 top 20 player compared to 7.
Uhm…. Fisher beat Saban this year with vastly inferior talent.
