Smith chose to come back and ball out. Chase chose money and leaving the team. Perhaps Chase couldn’t have improved his stock, but I’d argue he could’ve shown how he is a difference maker and leader regardless of who the QB is. Smith has earned the right to be the top receiver drafted if that’s the way it goes, and good for him

Yep. I can see it. Smith has a body of work over multiple seasons while Chase really just has the one great year.

He deserves to be drafted higher. He's earned it. All things being equal.

Smith never quitting puts him ahead of Chase.

NFL doesn’t work like that. Ruggs went before Jefferson for the same reason. They fall in love with physicals not production. Same reason waddle goes before smith if he’s not injured

The amount of sick WRs that have come out of Bama is crazy.

The difference to NFL teams will be their physical differences and scheme. They really don’t do anything the same. Smith is a burner and strider that competes very well for the ball. Chase is an outstanding route runner who also competes for the ball at a high level.

If a team values pure speed, it’s Smith easily. If they value an all around physical game it’s Chase. Both are studs. I don’t think the way Smith has played this year changes much. He was awesome before and will run the best 40 time of any wr.

Smith seems like a good dude. They'll both succeed in the league.

And they’re not done. The underclass men like JM III have a real opportunity to continue.

Eventually, everyone will realize the NFL does not care about opt outs. That has already been shown, after the 2016 season, Leonard Fournette and Christian MaCafferey opted out their bowl game, no consquence.

Nick Bosa got hurt early in September, had surgery 5 days later was cleared for football by the end of October. He opted out from Ohio State that year.

You know what each had common, opted out and 1st round pick.

Urban Meyer finally said what needs to be said, modern players think 2 things, get to the College Playoff and NFL (the elite players). Bowls don't matter.

Expand the Playoff to 8 teams, all P5 conference champs and 3 wildcards. You bring 4 more bowls into the CFP.

I have posted what I am about to post on TR already. Some journalist at Sports Illustrated, College Football News, etc needs to get all the draft board rankings for all players after the 2019 season.

Look at all the opt outs, those 1) before the season, 2) middle of the season, 3) last game of the season, etc. and see how the NFL combine treats that. And the most important factor is where the NFL drafts the opt out guys in April's 2021 NFL draft.

If there is no economic consequence to opting out, then their will be no economic disincentive to opt out in the future. That is the reality. With CTE and all the injuries we now know are related to football, elite guys with NFL futures are going to evaluate how they play the season out once they are draft eligible based on can our team have a chance to win a Championship, if not, then the NFL.

He should be. He’s the better receiver. That’s not a knock on Chase at all either. I think Chase will be elite too.
