I think it's an open question. What cannot be debated, imo, is the greatest coaching exhibition in CFP history.

The five National Champions prior to Georgia all had QBs taken in the first round of the NFL draft. This year, Alabama was poised to do it again with the Heisman winner at QB, the first QB in the history of Alabama to win the award.

Instead, CKS took a former walk-on at QB and won it all. The first time a former walk-on at QB has ever won a national championship as far as I can recall.

CKS = the GOAT Coaching Exhibition in the history of the CFP.

I mean, they aren't. That honor belongs to the 1995 Nebraska team.

2001 Miami

And that LSU team and probably a few Bama teams would be next.

Bama needs 5 star QBs and WRs to win the natty. All Kirby needs is a walk-on and freshmen receivers.

Offensively, 19 LSU was.

That Nebraska team was insane. It's hard to judge overall because CFB and the way its played is alot different now than it was in 95.

I do think it's an open question. It could be 2019 LSU, but the teams you mentioned and a couple of Alabama teams can make a good argument as well.

Have you seen Joe Burrow shredding NFL defenses? Chase and jefferson running wild on NFL db's? They would have done the same against the teams you listed. If this continues in 5 years there will be no question who the greatest college football team was.2019 LSU tigers!

That 2001 Miami team’s NFL success has more to do with their legend than what actually happened on the field in college. I honestly don’t recall people calling them the GOAT at the time, only after those guys went on to be studs in the league. I’d rather leave what happens in the NFL out of the discussion. Danny Wuerfel, for instance, was a baller in college. He was awful in the NFL but that doesn’t change what he was as a college player. Works both ways.

Other than Tua coming in second half against Georgia as a true freshman with no college experience and tearing their heart out has any 5 star QB at Alabama won a national title because those listed above are all 3/4 star QBs?

The most talented roster, but not the greatest team. Only had one win against top 10 teams, and were close to losing to Boston College.

I don’t say LSU had the greatest team in cfb history. I say we had the greatest SEASON. Every era has great teams . I respect em all.

Going 15-0 is certainly a first and hasn't been equaled.
