I don’t get why some people on here are advocating for super conferences

I’ve seen some on here say they are in favor of super conferences up to 22-24 teams. Everyone here likes to be dramatic and says “so and so will ruin college football forever”, but super conferences will legitimately change college football as we know it.

With a super conference, you will play each team every 3 years, and that’s with no permanent opponents. With a few permanent opponents you could see games like Florida vs Tennessee and Alabama vs LSU only happen every 5 years.

Are we really gonna throw out classic matchups we look forward to every year just to add some Big Ten or ACC school most teams will play twice a decade? It makes zero sense.

It has changed everything. There's going to be one league of teams willing to pay to play. Then there will be everyone else.

I don't think anyone really wants it but it's unstoppable, now.

So with that being said, since we can't have the old:

SEC
ACC
BIG12
BIG10
PAC10
BIG EAST
with preferably 12 or even better 10, we need to keep it regional and get it now.

4 sixteen team leagues that aren't going to put west virginia in the pac16 (won't happen but something will). They need to get into the acc or big10 quicklike.

I know exactly why schools/conferences want to do it. What I’m saying is I have zero clue why the average fan on here would be in favor.

This. Exposure is worth its weight in gold now too.

It's a temporary means to an end for CFB.

A break from the NCAA is ahead. There is simply too much money tied up in a useless body that already had no teeth before the Pandoras box of paying players/recruits that NIL affords.

Super conferences will end in a 32-64 team league with a similar conference play, divisional play, and playoff as the NFL.

The G5 and P5 rejects, FCS and below will carry the banner for NCAA football.

All else will be playing in the Collegiate Football Championship League, or something of the sort.

NIL changed everything. I roll my eyes when I see posters who advocated payers get paid then bitch about conference expansion.

I somewhat like the idea of Texas/OU, I very much like the idea of Alabama and Auburn moving to the East but 22-24 is way too much. Anything beyond 16 is just ridiculous.

They have no choice. Can't have some schools paying and some not in the same conference. That's why when I see rumors of some teams wanting to leave the SEC, I figure it's inevitable.

Does Vanderbilt want to pay to be the highest bidder for some 5 Stars so they can compete? It's the big time programs that want to compete and need to be in a league that allows them to do that. My guess is there's going to be one league that does that, then there will be the more traditional leagues that just give scholarships.

It's what you guys were begging for by adding Texas and OU. The SEC was already King. The SEC already had half of the Top 20 programs. The gap between the SEC and everyone else is a canyon now.

If you think this is over you are a fool. It's not going to be 4 Super Conferences, it might be 2 and if you don't have serious resources to keep up and can show your value you will be kicked to the curb. ESPN is running this thing. "Haves and have nots" is going to have a whole new meaning in a few years as this settles out.
