I can't go back to crappy non-conference games

After the beauty of a ten game SEC schedule last year it's going to be hard to tolerate weekends featuring Southern Miss, Mercer, and New Mexico State. I'm not particularly excited about the Miami game in Atlanta either after the Canes' lackluster finish last year.

Anybody else on board for making the ten game SEC schedule permanent?

I'd take the 10 game all SEC schedule permanently if I had my way.

Throw in a 1 quality nonconference game to bring the total games to 11.

That way you can still play your UGA/Ga Tech, Scar/Clemson, UF/FSU, A&M/TU games and such.

I don't want crappy ones, but I want 12 games. 10 made for a late start and too many breaks.

I don’t either, but some fanbases put great importance in those cupcake games.

I can. It might be our only wins next year.

Not gonna name names nor try to embarrass anyone.

Why not? If some teams had been able to play their cupcakes this year, we wouldn't have seen the coaching turnover in this conference. Those cupcakes have saved HC jobs for years.

If Saban wasn’t your coach, I have a feeling this wouldn’t be your opinion.

CFB playoff would need to extend to 16 to account for this.

Not to mention missing out on the App State-Michigan improbable upsets.

I dont mind the layup games as long as they are played in the first week or two. Nothing wrong with a tune up game, especially since there are no preseason games or scrimmages vs. other teams

Naah... I haven’t seen a season where 5 or 6 would have mattered, let alone 16. Can you imagine 16 playing LSU in 2019?? That would have been a blood-letting.

We’re not saying that there shouldn’t be any OOC games...just that some teams relish them more than others.

Ten SEC games a year would be excellent. We shouldn’t be expected to fund the athletic budgets of the small schools.

I'll grant you that Alabama isn't going to find itself needing a win over New Mexico State for bowl eligibility anytime soon, but I think even noncompetitive games against weaker SEC teams are more enjoyable than facing off against the Mercers of the world.

I think it's better for the sport to have some cupcakes. I also like a schedule with flexibility so schools like Georgia can schedule Clemson and Notre Dame et al, and not just be tied to a single ooc annual matchup.

Why does when you play the games matter?

I would love an all SEC schedule. Kick out 2 teams. Have a 12 team confrence everyone plays each other with a confrence game. 12 games total. Also the winner of the SEC would have to have an auto include in the playoffs for this to be realistic.

You don't want to try to even the series with UCF or ULM? Just quit even trying?

I'll shoot that down instantly.
12 team conference = 11 conf. games
annual game against GT

WHO else does UGA/UF/USC/UK get to play? NOBODY.

Yet the other 8 have that open slot.

Now I agree with you that a true round-robin schedule prevents a cg & therefore SHOULD be an auto birth into the PO.
