Let's assume the below will be the new setup...

East:

Alabama
Auburn
Tennessee
Vanderbilt
Kentucky
SC
Georgia
Florida

West:

Ole Miss
State
LSU
aTm
Texas
Oklahoma
Arkansas
Missouri

Who would be the permanent cross division rivalry games, if still needed?

I'd go:
Alabama v. Texas
Georgia v. Oklahoma
Florida v. LSU
Auburn v. aTm
Tennessee v. Arkansas
South Carolina v. Missouri
Vandy v. Ole Miss
Kentucky v. State

It's not going to be two divisions.

Considering LSU and Florida been trying to get out of that game, I doubt they would be permanent opponents. I think LSU and bama or LSU and auburn would be permanent cross division opponents

I will honest to god be shocked if a Bama v. Texas rivalry isn't pushed by ESPN the instant we get good.

Alabama v. Texas

Another easy annual win against a sorry arse orange and white team. Meanwhile, their divisional rivals Auburn, UGA, and Florida all have harder permanent opponents.

Divisions are better than pods.

Move Alabama and Auburn over to the East, keep the old rivalries together, and renew old ones. With a 9 game schedule, you get to play every school in a 4 year period, travel to every school in a 8 year period.

This is the only way.

It will not be divisions but if it were I would hope for LSU to be Bama's permanent. However I could see it being A&M to push the storyline of all of the coaches that have been at each program.

Swap Tennessee & Vandy:

Tennessee vs Ole Miss (played each other 55 times in 64 years...between 1927-1991) divisional play ended this series going back to the great depression.

Vandy vs Arkansas...because, why not...

I know the two schools aren't technically "rivals", but this by far, is my favorite game every year.

No pods. No divisions. Every team has 1-2 permanent opponents used to protect the rivalry games/valuable TV games. Rotate through everybody else.

Best two records play in SECC game. That’s it.

Not sure why OP got so many downvotes. This is actually a coherent logical post, whether anyone agrees with it or not.

There will be pods, but if there is East vs West their will NOT be permanent cross division opponents.

Base on nothing more than a day of reading, it appears this is the first step after a new post has arrived, downvote 5-10 times.

If Alabama gets in the same division as Auburn and Tennessee, and Auburn gets in the same division as Georgia; there will be no need for permanent cross division rivalry games.

LSU and Florida are like the two folks in the friend group that act like they f$&king hate each other, complain about and roast each other constantly, but one night after everyone starts heading home, you double back to the bar because you forgot to close out your tab and catch them being romantic together.

LSU and Florida complain about each other all the time, but actually look forward to the jabs and would miss one another dearly if separated for too long.

Arkansas and A&M are like the simp chasing after LSU who has zero feelings for them because LSU’s too busy simping after Alabama who has no feelings for them.

You don’t think LSU likes playing Alabama, Auburn, and Florida?
